Publisher's Summary

What is the hardest challenge you’ve faced as a student of the German language? You can work hard on your grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, but being able to communicate naturally isn’t easy. In fact, the toughest part of learning German is knowing how to speak like a native.

Most textbooks are made to teach you the traditional rules and structures of a language and are great for getting around the grammar and spelling questions you may have. However, how many of them provide you the tools necessary to have a common conversation with a best friend or someone you’ve just met? Not many.

Language learners often complain about this: a lack of material that can help you familiarize yourself with the most common phrases used in everyday conversation and in native surroundings.

For this reason, we at Lingo Mastery have developed Easy German Phrase Book: Over 1500 Common Phrases for Everyday Use and Travel for you, our favorite language learner, so that you may find the best expressions for common usage in Germany and communicate with your German friends, colleagues, and clients without any issue!

In this audiobook, you will learn:

  • An introduction with a detailed guide on how to pronounce vowels and consonants (as well as their combinations) in the German tongue
  • A list of over 1,500 common phrases in German, with an accurate translation in English for your understanding
  • A phonetics pronunciation guide of each and every word in the phrases, included after every translation
  • Finally, a conclusion to make sure you’ve learned and supply you with a final list of tips

Your days struggling with natural communication with natives is finally over. Our Easy German Phrase Book is here. It’s time for you to take your German to the next level.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Great introduction to the german language.

I find the book great if you fall into one of the following categories.

1. Total beginner who is looking to start yourself in the language.
2. You need basic use of the language for traveling to a German speaking country.

It is full of simple and everyday use phrases that will allow you to move yourself around in many different situations and get you a grasp of how does the language works and start gaining basic fluency.
It is grouped by different situations you can find yourself in, which also allows to use it as a consult book when you need a quick resource for what to say in a certain situation.

However, if you are already a little advanced, it can get boring easily because it is very basic and it's just a bunch of independent phrases. although you can still use it for consult at this level, I would go better for the short stories or conversation books that give you and engaging and entertaining learning time.

Great narrator and phrases

This is just what you want as a German learner. You got 1500 phrases split into chapters based on the scenario such as Dining Out, Asking for directions, meetings, small talk and so on. And on top of that you have a narrator with a clean and easy voice to listen to and he reads everything in a good pace. On top of that you can lower the speed or up the speed with the app so highly recommended!

A bit disappointing

This book is clearly aimed at people who already speak a bit of German (level A2 or higher). Therefore, I think that including basic information on how to pronounce sounds in the introduction is a little bit pointless.

I also have a feeling that the authors did not spend much time when translating the sentences from English to German. Many of them mean something different, which often makes it impossible to translate them yourself correctly. For example:

English: Only if you go first.
German: Nach Ihnen.
Real meaning: After you.

English: Can I please have cream in my coffee?
German: Kann ich Milch in meinen Kaffee haben?
Real meaning: Can I have milk in my coffee?

Finally, it would also be great to have a bit of a longer pause after each sentence in English, so that you have more time to think. Clicking the pause button every few seconds quickly becomes tiring. Slowing down playback speed does not help much, because when the narrator speaks the sentence for the second time, that makes is waaaaaaay tooooooo slooooooow.
