Publisher's summary

At long last, Earth has a handful of starships. Surrounded by Rebel Kher, Imperials, and the mysterious Nomads, humanity dares to assert our right to independence.

The interstellar community reacts harshly. In the eyes of our neighbors, we’re upstarts, dangerous beings who don’t know our place.

For the Kher, freedom can only be won through battle. War fleets arrive to instruct us, and Captain Leo Blake is again sent out to voyage among hostile stars.

We’re far from ready, but the time has come. It’s game on.

Such Crap / Trash

This is such a Horrible book, The first few books were really good then we got a bad one - Book 3.
Book 4 Carries on with being crappy and even lowers the bar a few notches, This book is a dumpster fire burning feces.

Blake who starts off the series being a tough but intelligent Man is now a indecisive little wimp - Snowflake.

Aliens attack earth kill 3 million+ people, Blake talks tough about revenge and then He travels to the Alien planet
and Nothing - He Wimps out, Literally, -- Paraphrase Quote -- "Oh well these Aliens were only doing what they were told to do" ........ We'll Just bomb the Empty Mountains and Hope they get scared and learn their lesson " --- ????????? WTF.

Every Sub plot / ploy turns out to be Filler, Every Choice and judgment call Blake makes Leads to and Ends up being
incredibly STUPID and causes more problems..

I can't help it, I LITERALLY want to use nothing but Foul Language to Describe how I Feel about this thing called an audio book that was written by someone who is supposed to be a professional --- Yeah right, Not professional in the least.
More Like this Book was written by a 12 year old.

Mark Boyett is AWESOME -- Thank You Mark for being a Wonderful Narrator... Do yourself a Favor and get away BV Larsons Audio books , I know you have to work and pay bills... But your better than this drivel that tries to pass for a "Story".

Getting a little tired of the formula

Larson and Boyett have given me many hours of light weight entertainment, but I would like to see them venture outside of the comfort zone.
All of the books, regardless of which series, are essentially the same, dimple chinned hero protagonist, careens through the narrative pulling off endless strings of risky, reckless gambits, thanks to an enormous amount of dumb luck and the fact that all adversaries are unbelievably arrogant, cruel, and gullible.
Very little moral complexity, mass deaths are shrugged off, female characters are rare, usually brought in as sexual conquests for the main guy.
The result is less military science fiction and more adolescent male wish fulfillment fantasy.

The weakest of the four books

Mark Boyett is an excellent narrator. Aside from that - The story just continued to get more far fetched with each book. The “Nomads” storyline is just plain ridiculous. And it’s gotten to the point that no matter what happens, you know there will be some surprise twist to change things . . . and then another surprise twist . . . and then another. And after four books, there’s only one likeable character, one that is ridiculous, and no character development of anyone else. Very disappointing.

Another great story in this series.

I really wish that these were a wee bit longer. however the narrator was as good as her always been, and he brings the story to life.

Earth is not alone and the Rebel fleet remains

Rally to the rebel call. The forth entry in the the Rebel fleet saga is a strong developed well put together edition to the the overall story arc. The editorial novel is a worthy adventure and a interesting powerful science fiction space saga.

Moves the story forward and, at times, sideways

Captain Blake continues his role as the pivotal protagonist who is continually challenged with working with a moribund earth fleet leadership along with other alpha species within the Rebel Kher to fend off attacks for dominance. Throw the inscrutable and devious Nomads into the mix and it's a wonder his haphazard maneuvers to thread the needle in a path that keeps Earth independent doesn't simply split at the seams. B. V. Larson continues to introduce new and esoteric technologies along with planet-cracking weapons while Mark Boyett performance persists in instilling a sense of realism into the many unrealistic characters.

Original and Refreshing

One of the few books that you just cannot see what is coming. A rare quality today in a world where every event is forshadowed leaving the plot twist to evoke a yawn rather than wide eyed shock. Unexpected twists and turns that keep you hooked to the last sentence. Truly a great book and an intelligent author who knows how to make his story progress in a way that is on par with riding a roller coaster in the dark.
