William Thompson never intended to become patient zero of the apocalypse.

Haunted by fragmented memories and the weight of decisions with existential consequences, Will returns from the Antarctic chasm to the CIA's shadowy Space Systems building. Implanted secrets from his encounter with the entity beneath the Southern Sea may hold the key to averting global extinction—or they could ignite it. Time itself is unraveling, and with every recovered memory the line between savior and architect of humanity’s destruction grows perilously thin.

Meanwhile, Jacob Hale is recruited into the shadowy order of the Omniscients, his skills crucial in deciphering mysterious communications with origins somewhere in the dark abyss of space. Joined by a fractured team of operatives—Denise Walker, Jonathan McDougal, Daniel Parsons, and Sylvia Barnes—they race against a ticking cosmic clock. An ancient force stirs, casting the world into existential shadows, and the choices made in the darkness echo across stars and souls.

Omniscient escalates the saga into mind-bending speculative sci-fi and spy thriller, where the darkest intentions of humanity’s past collide with otherworldly menace. Fans are calling it "storytelling at its highest—a transcendent journey that's original, exciting, and horrifically brilliant, the best in the series so far.”

Decent enough story, predictable and paint-by-numbers at times but overall a decent listen (especially for free).

I hate the a.i. narrator tho. This is not a trend I hope continues.

The digital voice is amazing, but still not as good as a human voice. It doesn't convey the same amount of emotion nor variation between characters that a human can provide. The story was enjoyable and thought provoking, but it repeated a lot of the prior volume and provided a ton of detail in some parts of the book and sparse descriptions in other parts making it inconsistent.

…it’s a wonder I made it through at all. The story is just this side of meh and like the sucker I am I pushed on hoping for improvement that never came. The series’ proceeding titles are unavailable which is for the best.

Between the dry descriptors and the dry narration…
