Terrified of telling too much, 10-year-old Dylan Sedano wishes his little sister, Fern, would stop talking. But when Army Reserve Officer Scott Wood and his wife, Autumn, tell Dylan that God is ready to help him, Dylan isn't buying. If God did care for them, why hadn't he been there months ago when the trouble started and his dad disappeared?

I love Miss Morris's books because they are family-focused and honor the Lord.
The story was very sad in various parts, but it was easy to see God's hand in it all throughout the book.
Dylan and Fern (brother and sister) are found by Scott and Autumn Wood while the Woods are on a horseback ride. The children were in a cabin all alone.
Dylan was a sensitive, responsible, and caring child who had to grow up too quickly. He almost has to be a parent to Fern, eho is only a couple years younger than he is. I just wanted to give Dylan a big hug in several places in the story.
Fern was the opposite of Dylan and not quite as loveable, but I can see how her misbehavior was a cry for help, in a way.
The Woods were such a sweet couple, and it was beautiful to see how well they could communicate just by looks and glances. They helped Dylan and his entire family.
The mentions of prayer, Bible reading, and church attendance were all refreshing. I also loved the themes of forgiveness and hope.
I also loved the Woods' relationship and that of Dylan and his mother.
This story was a lovely way to end the year, and I look forward to listen to it again. I also look forward to enjoy more books by Miss Mortis.
