Publisher's summary

He's posing as a groomsman.

Rhys Sheffield, the Duke of Worthington, has bet his friends an ungodly sum of money that despite his loftiness, he can pass himself off as a servant at the house party of the Season. But when his ex-flame arrives and recognizes Rhys pretending to be a groomsman, she realizes it's the perfect opportunity to pay him back for breaking off their engagement.

She's the bride-to-be.

Lady Julianna Montgomery may be the only young woman at the house party who's not in the market for a husband. She's quite happily engaged to a marquess, thank you very much, and scarcely remembers the pain of being callously tossed over by the Duke of Worthington two long years ago - till now.

All bets are off.

Rhys seems to be everywhere, flexing his muscles, laboring in the sun - and Julianna has never found him more appealing. With his signature charm, he persuades her to keep his secret. But when she learns he's determined to win a bet of honor, she can't resist playing a game of her own. She'll spend the next fortnight tempting Rhys at every turn and making him lose his precious wager. Even if it means she must lose her heart in the process....

Contains mature themes.

Stubborn and wilfully misunderstood

Three aristocrats take an interesting trip into the lives of servants. On a bet, of course. They blend in too well and too easily. The end is no end as it continues into the next book.

Captivating tale of emotional baggage and pride that halted a romance

Second chance for Rhys and Julianna but their pride and past emotional baggage plus lack of communication causes chaos. They have to grow and learn to communicate and then share honest feelings and in their case it takes a village.

A cute story

The story of the Duke who was pretending to work in the stables hoping no one would recognize him brings him face to face with a former close friend. She recognizes him immediately as the man who left her unexpectedly months before. She wants revenge.

Enemies to friends. The story is entertaining. The narration, however, is a bit slow so I increased the speed and it helped.

Stubborn people

I loved the first book of the series. The H/h in the second book kept making assumptions and were very stubborn. They almost missed a chance for true love. There was some witty dialogue. The narrator was very good!

Great story

I read a lot of historical romances I’m more accustomed to the ending having the problem s resolved . I like the relationships of friends and potential brides
