Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation.

Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog! And she has to do it without letting her passenger—the most persnickety, stuffy, devastatingly handsome vamp she’s ever met—drive her crazy. As she and Collin find disaster on the roads, they also find an undeniable spark between them. Could Miranda have found the perfect job and the perfect guy for her?

Would you listen to Driving Mr. Dead again? Why?

As usual, Molly Harper incorporates so many pithy comments and observations in one line after another.. It takes a second listen to follow her bouncing words of satire and wit once they are set in motion..

What did you like best about this story?

The main character, Miranda, has that perfect blend of pessimistic optimism. She looks forward to better times, but learns to cope with the disastrous detours along the way.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Amanda Ronconi is the best at potraying modern, intelligent, flawed and funny women. She has a great sense of timing, especially as characters interact and respond to each other's peculiarities.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book was simply hilarious. It made me laugh and cringe all at the same time. It leaves you waiting to find out what else could go wrong and still hoping that nothing does..

Any additional comments?

I hope there is a sequel to this book. I would like to see how the main characters Miranda and Colin develop and how they interact wtih the other folks in Half Moon Hollow. I wish that there were a bit more tension between these two characters and more explanation of Colin's attraction to Miranda. The ending seemed to rush their relationship too much given their clear differences.

Another funny, quirky story by Molly Harper

Would you listen to Driving Mr. Dead again? Why?

Definitely! This is a short, super funny paranormal rom-com that you can listen to over and over.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Miranda's character is my favorite. She is funny, prone to life threatening idiocy and totally likable. She's on a journey to discover what she wants to do with her life and I enjoyed every turn on he way.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Amanda Ronconi does an amazing job with every character of this book and all other Molly Harpers books. She's the perfect narrator because she gets the writers sense of humor perfectly.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh out load more times than I could count.

Any additional comments?

Beware when you listen to this book. I decided to listen to this in bed while my husband slept. I tried to control my laughter but eventually he woke up due to my historical laugh.

Cute, light and fun are some of the words that I would use to describe Driving Mr. Dead. Molly Harper's writing is cheery and Amanda Ronconi's narration is colourful. I finished this audiobook in record time; mainly because it's only 5 hours long but also thanks to the high entertainment value. This light-hearted book is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Miranda is quirky and silly, Collin is peculiar yet sexy, and their road trip together is disastrous. If you haven't given Molly Harper a try yet, Driving Mr. Dead is a good place to start!

I like the main concept behind this book: a vampire concierge service. Simple but with oh so many promising possibilities! Anyone who's ever been on a road trip knows that they usually don't go quiteas planned, throw a vamp into the mix and you're just asking for trouble! Harper does a fab job of writing a great book that revolves around such a simple story line. I think that's part of the appeal of this novel; you don't have to think. All you have to do is sit back, listen and enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I still love all of the complicated universes found in the Paranormal genre but it's nice to dumb things down every once in a while and to just enjoy the experience. This book is just plain fun!

Miranda reminds me a lot of my young adult days. She's sort of all over the place, doesn't really know what she wants to do with her life and is rather ditzy. She also has a knack for turning a dull, cross-country drive into an African safari. Harper's imagination really shines through in the form of Miranda's ridiculous antics. Many of them seem farfetched, but really, under the right circumstances anything is possible! Or maybe it's just me. I am a Murphy on my mom's side after all so perhaps I'm more prone to weird things happening. Anyway, moving on...

I wasn't a very big Collin fan at first. When we're introduced to him he's snobby, anti-social and uptight. He also has a whole booklet of rules for Miranda to follow as she plays chauffeur for him. Not a good sign. As they get closer to their destination and their problems become stranger and stranger, Sutherland can't help but see the humor in their predicament. Oddly enough, Miranda's chaos messes with his ability to see possible outcomes which actually brings him peace, for the first time in over a century. Aaw, a match made in heaven! Sorta.

There's no complicated mystery to solve or complex love triangle to decipher in Driving Mr. Dead but it is one heck of a fun read. The narrator is expressive and upbeat, the story is entertaining and the characters are delightful. This is a great way to spend five hours.

A Great Way To Spend 5 Hours!

This was hilarious. I laughed out loud several times listening to this, and that's a rare event. The author reminds me of Janet Evonivich in her self-deprechating ways and yet how she manages to get the job done.

Our heroine is a walking disaster area. Everything seems to go wrong, yet she somehow manages to pull things together at the last minute in some strange, and really funny way. This lighthearted romp through an alternate universe in which vampires and were-beings are "out" and humanity is learning to live with them is a great listen.

For anyone who needs some lighthearted listening, I recommend this.

Terrific

This was my first Molly Harper book. It is very entertaining. After a short way into the book, the listener begins to think the herione is a modern day version of Pauline as in "The Perils of Pauline". The narrator Amanda Ronconi does an outstanding job. Ms Ronconi gives voice not only to the main characters but all the characters in the book. Each character has his own voice which makes the listener feel as if they are sitting on the stage watching the action first hand. I will definitely look for more Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi. I recommend this one enthusiastically.

Entertaining Read!
