Exceeds the Genre!

DREAM STATE The Sleeping Detective Series Book 1 stands out brightly within the psychic detective genre, and in many ways exceeds it.
Charles R. Hinckley’s writing is crisp and well detailed. The book’s great strengths are solid characterization and intensely visual writing. When his hero, August Chase, moves into his dream state, Hinckley creates a strong sense of dread, making us wonder at the realm around us, even as we try and unwrap the mystery he probes ourselves. The narrator, Brett M. Boles, is at his best there, making the darkness at the edge of these dreams seem real.
The author’s characters ring true, inhabiting a very tangible New York City, and there’s no small amount of humor in these noirish city dwellers. Again, Boles vocalizes the large cast well.
DREAM STATE is a solid read, well read in Audible. I look forward to more stories in this series.

The sleeping detective.

A series of seemingly unrelated dreams, twist and turn through colorful descriptions of characters, settings and relationships bring the reader to a surprising end.
Mysteries are not usually my genre choice, however, the author drew me into this intriguing puzzle. I would highly recommend it.

Interesting psychic spin

The characters were interesting and so was the story. Wondering where this will go, will push me to read the next book. Not a cliffhanger, but one character is missing. Good narrator.
