Lavish parties. Committee chairmanships for sale. Pay-to-play corruption. Backroom arm-twisting. Votes on major legislation going to the highest bidder.

Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO) is blowing the whistle on the real-life House of Cards going on behind the scenes in our nation's capital. Elected in 2014 as president of one of the largest Republican freshman classes ever to enter Congress, Buck quickly realized why nothing gets done in Congress, and it isn't because of political gridlock - in fact, Republicans and Democrats work together all too well to fleece taxpayers and plunge America deeper into debt.

"It is an insular process directed by power-hungry party elites who live like kings and govern like bullies," Buck reports.

Buck has witnessed firsthand how the unwritten rules of Congress continually prioritize short-term political gain over lasting, principled leadership. When Buck tangled with Washington power brokers like former Speaker John Boehner, he faced petty retaliation. When he insisted Republicans keep their word to voters, he was berated on the House floor by his own party leaders. When other members of Congress dared to do what they believed to be right for America instead of what the party bosses commanded, Buck saw them stripped of committee positions and even denied dining room privileges by the petty beltway bullies.

In Drain the Swamp, Buck names names and tells incredible true stories about what really happened behind closed doors in Congress during legislative battles that have ensued over the last two years, including budget, continuing resolutions, omnibus, trade promotion authority, Iran, and more.

This books was very informative and I enjoyed that both parties were critiqued! The action items at the end gave me hope that my children and their children can live in a country that is balanced, equitable, and strong for each of its citizens.

For many years I have been an outspoken person for term limits, & all the issues so well expressed in this book, If only President Elect Donald J. Trump would remember there is "three branches of our government". The Author couldn't have stated anymore clearly than he did. I truly believe all of those so called "swamp people" should be only allowed to serve 8 years in D.C. just like the President. I am so put off by those in the House of Representatives & our Senators shouldn't pass and bill that they themselves don't adhere to (Affordable Health Care) is one example. This was definitely an eye opener & should be read by "Every Registered Voter in America".

Drain away kick them all out of WASHINGTON D.C.

This book clearly outlines a wide variety of practices in Washington DC that are appalling. I loved this book but I'm afraid for our future.

What every American must hear.

This book, more than any other I've read on the subject, helped me to really understand the temptation of corruption. With an excellent forward by Jim DeMint, freshman senators go through a college "rush" period similar to the old fraternity/sorority system. A newcomer to Washington DC is wined, dined, smothered in gifts and otherwise courted with the hopes of winning the newcomer's vote. It takes character and courage to stand up to the temptations, the ego-boosts and the desire to fit in. You vote "wrong" - you're blackballed and find yourself eating lunch alone. Ken Buck writes his story candidly and with humor. I always wondered why our elected Republicans go RINO on us; now I think I understand.

If you care about the future of our country and government, you should read this book. The information is very compelling and eye opening as to the inner running of our Congress as well as the other branches of governmwnt. This is a must read.
