Publisher's Summary

Dragon Prince Nikolai Vassago's day starts out fairly normal: get up, kick some ass, fondle his beard, take some names.

One minute he's participating in a run-of-the-mill mission, and the next minute, he's rescuing Brooklyn, the woman that is fated to be his, from the clutches of a criminal mastermind.

Nikolai is quite pleased with his fated mate. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Brooklyn.

Living in a religious commune for the majority of her life meant Brooklyn wasn't exposed to all of the outside world's craziness. The moment she turned 18, she was off and running towards whatever new experiences the outside world could give her.

In her quest to experience it all, she tends to jump into situations without weighing the potential consequences until it's too late. Brooklyn just wants to be free to make her own decisions and live her life as she pleases. But in her quest to save herself from the limitations of her old commune life, she lands herself in a dangerous situation, and Nikolai swoops in to her rescue, throwing her on the back of his dragon and flying off into the night.

He's a man-with-a-plan kind of guy, and she's a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants (not on the back of a dragon!) kind of girl. Nikolai, however, has fate on his side, and whether she is ready to accept her fate or not, it won't be denied. Brooklyn's stubborn, though, and Nikolai will need to use all of his powers to show her that she's exactly where she needs to be.

Contains mature themes.

I really wanted to like it. I really did, but...

It’s just so disjointed? Poorly organized? Mishmash? There were gaps and things happened without explanation or description, making me think I missed something, but it happened over and over again. Magical powers were used sometimes but not when they would’ve been useful. Through all of it, I don’t know what the main characters even look like. And then there’s the narration... the h left her Amish community when she was 18 or 20 (inconsistent in the story) but she’s sassy, argumentative, crude, and has a southern accent? She was allegedly beaten by her family and arranged to be married when she was Amish and had an uncle and brother that were cruelly violent. Neither arranged marriage nor violence happen in Amish communities. The whole story was weird and didn’t make sense. Honestly, I can’t believe this got past editors and I don’t know why it has so many good reviews.

4.5 ⭐️❕

This series has been a departure from what I’m accustomed to from LLV but it’s been an excellent surprise. I’ve discovered a new genre in her dragon series that I’m thoroughly enjoying. Each book has pulled me deeper into the world she has created and LLV sets a scene that effortlessly draws you in and gets you invested in what’s happening with the characters in her story. I can’t wait for the next book!

I just can’t!

I’m a fan of Lani Lynn, I’ve listen to a lot of her series and I really enjoyed the first book of this series. However, this book just annoyed me and that’s not what I want when listening or reading a book. The heroine was a self righteous little girl! After all she went through, after all her uncle put her through she still wanted to be ‘free’. As if she was being kept prisoner instead of being a guest! She complained and threw a tantrum then turned around and did the same thing she was complaining about? She screamed and insulted the King because he didn’t allow her to go out because she would be putting over 100 riders in jeopardy. Then she gets captured and wants to be saved but doesn’t help the people that need help because she is being a good little girl and hiding! So you’re willing to put everyone in harms way, act the offended & hurt but then protect your own ass?!?!? I’m sorry but I just can’t deal!!

big chunks of storyline missing

while the story is enjoyable there are gaps in the storyline that are both confusing and annoying. spoilers follow.
several times throughout, the story skips and you're left wondering if you missed a chapter. for example, apparently the main character has a fight with her husband and brother-in-law and best friend but we don't get the details of it, she then gets kidnapped by her brother but we don't get the details of that, she gets away from the kidnappers but we don't get the details of that or find out what happened to her brother, fairy dragons are introduced and then completely ignored for the rest of the story. and that is just the last third of the book, it happens throughout and also in the first book I'm not sure if I can read the third if it will be the same.

love

Computer home body vs outgoing carefree spirit. Nikolai and Brooklyn's relationship is a true test on how two different people can make things work. It's a pull and push kinda thing and having his family around puts a bigger strain. It's love and loyalties at play. Heart vs years of trust.

Another great story. in the world of dragons and there riders..These narrators really do justice to the story. it's like being in there in one minds eye.
one little spoiler I have to say, when the king pushed out his power to save the queen. I really was pleased she lived I really did think she was going to die, I had tears.......
