Publisher's summary

Four months ago, a pretty young marathoner disappeared while training on the isolated trails of Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The police have few leads, no witnesses, and no results. As a last resort, they call in private investigator Lacey Fitzpatrick and Navajo medium Sam Firecloud to pick up the rapidly cooling trail. Sam and Lacey, however, are on the outs. Their efforts to take their relationship to the next level failed miserably, and now they must redefine their working relationship, as well. Can they find the murdered girl and her killer, and still hang on to their partnership?

short story

There is a place for short stories especially when they are well written. Sam and Lacey tackle finding a missing daughter and their place in each others lives.

Very Enjoyable Series

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is the fifth book in the Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud mystery series. Each of the five books is a standalone book with no cliffhanger ending and can be read without having read any of the prior books in the series. Having said that [or written it], the two main characters, Lacey and Sam, have developed quite a bit since the first book in the series and so has their relationship with each other. These two main characters are very likeable and interesting so I have really enjoyed learning about them in an organic way. Additionally, I like the interesting way that Sam's talents come into play with each book and learning, along with Lacey, how these talents best fit into the investigation. So, I would highly recommend that you start with the first book in this series.

This well written book [#5] is a very quick read. The focus of the mystery is the disappearance of a runner who has led a somewhat tragic life making each one of her relations a suspect. In addition, Sam and Lacey have hit a bit of a speed bump in their relationship, which seemed very realistic and authentic. Although I figured out the culprit early on, I still enjoyed the investigation and the reveal.

The narrator, Laura Wilson, is perfect for this series.

audible is eating my reviews!

Rounded up from 3.5

Sam and Lacey. I was really happy to find out that the couple took a step back in this book. Lacey has moved out and they are still figuring things out. And that's ok. They are back at work on a case involving a missing woman. I had no idea how or were the dragon from the title would come in but Melissa Bowersock does it and does it well. There is a lot of symbolism in this story and i enjoyed that very much. I liked this one a lot more than i did the previous and can't wait to find out what happens next in Demon Walk. Ohh! That's going to be fun.
Thank you to Melissa Bowersock for the opportunity to listen and review this audio book

Loved it!

novella, relationship-issues, investigation, supernatural, cozy-mystery, law-enforcement, private-investigators

Lacey is an ex-homicide cop turned private investigator and Sam is her partner in special investigations requiring communication with the victims of murder. They also have a personal relationship which is pretty rocky just now. They are called in by the parents of a young woman who was out on a marathon training run four months ago and simply vanished without a trace or viable suspect. LAPD is just as baffled and agrees to work with them once again. Another great installment in a terrific series! Loved it!
Laura Wilson continues to be the great narrator.

The protector

Dragon Walk is a book that dealt with the reality of mental illness. I am so glad that this is now being brought fourth in today's mainstream books. I loved the fast pace of the book as well as the believable storyline and characters. I wish that the author would put Sam and Lacy back together because I think they are perfect for one another. The narrator absolutely had the perfect voice for this specific book.
