Story
Twenty-nine-year-old Lily Buckley planned to be happily married and in her dream job by now. Instead, she’s been single since being left at the altar three years ago, and works at her local paper, writing stories about giant vegetables at the village fete and a dog who looks exactly like Chewbacca. Not quite what she was dreaming of. So when Lily’s allowed to write her own column it’s exactly what she’s always wanted - except there's a catch. She has to do one thing every week that scares her then write about it.

Story
I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting it, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying; I’m just peeling an onion.)

Entertaining But...
I'm enjoying the story: it's light and upbeat, with a likable protagonist albeit slightly cliche. The reader, Imogen Church, is talented with varying voices for each character, inflection, pacing, and tone. But there is one problem that the director or editing should have caught/prevented/corrected: Whenever the main character has an "aside" or interior monologue, Ms Church lowers the volume of her voice so greatly that it's near impossible to hear. Yet increasing my devices' volume results startlingly loud dialogue from the other characters, as if they're yelling. My downstairs neighbor even complained that my "TV was too loud." This just about ruined the listening experience for me, making it quite frustrating. I want to listen to the rest of the book, but no matter where I am or how I listen--car, earbuds, home speakers system--there are parts of the book I can't hear unless I want to be subjected to parts that are jarringly loud. So frustrating!!! I've listened to other books narrated by Imogen Church and usually enjoy her style, so it's clear this time she just didn't realize her mic wasn't picking up part of her speech very well.

Was a bit slow at one point but it picked back up
I have to admit that I am writing this review 3 months after I purchased the book. I started it and got tired I'm the middle and just couldn't pick it back up. once I ran out of credits and things I had not read yet I came back and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I seemed to have given up on the story just before things started looking up for the heroine and so my return to the world of Poppy was a joyous one. the story was good but I earn you that it may drag slightly in the middle. I never really laughed out loud but I was amused many times. You will cringe for the main character more than anything but she comes around. I am not upset about the credit. I would do it again. This book is more about self discovery than anything else. It's a love story in which the heroine falls in love with who she is and everything else falls into place after that. There is no sex, illicit violence, or drug use in the book although the heroine does deal with the lingering feelings of being a child who grew up witness to a drug addiction. The book was a solid story but if you are looking for a love story this is not it. It's more of a self-love story but in the end that is fine with me.

Meh
Alright I guess. I liked the overall sentiment of living for now and loving your loved ones and going with your gut etc but it lacked that certain grip you get with really great books. The narrator probably spoilt it a bit too to be honest. Quiet one minute, loud the next and a bit overly expressive on certain lines. Good at different accents though. I'm not saying it's the worst book, but sadly not the best.

the protagonist was so annoying.
im not sure if it's great writing or terrible writing that makes you really dislike the main character but God she was annoying
ok so she wasn't "annoying" she was young and immature and i just struggled to connect with her but that may be because I'm way past that drama and self centred thinking (I probably would have totally got her in my early twenties).
the narration was good and I mean something kept me in it as I did listen to the whole book but it wasn't the easiest. There were some really awesome kick ass moments though. the Netball team! loved it.
all in all I would 100% recommend to the 20-28yr old age bracket. any old and you might be reminded of all the cringe worthy ways you used to be when you were younger
