Joanne knows how lucky she is—Richard is a wonderful husband, Evie is the most gorgeous baby girl, they live in a beautiful house—life couldn't be better. But then Richard's twenty-year-old daughter Chloe turns up. Chloe hasn’t spoken to her father since the day he married Joanne two years ago. But then things happen that make Joanne feel like she’s losing her mind. She misplaces things, misses important appointments, gets dates wrong… Could Joanne be going mad, just like her own mother? Or is something more sinister happening? Is Chloe really here to help? Or has Joanne made a terrible mistake by letting her move in? And is it too late to ask her to leave?

The ending though …

I had a tough time with the narration at first but got used to it eventually. I left the story line to be a little frustrating and then the twist at the end to be slightly predictable. However, it was definitely a story that drew me in and I didn’t want to stop listening.

Loved it!!!!

I loved this book. It was well written and really had some great twists in the end. Held my attention throughout each chapter. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Ending was disappointing

Was hooked on this story through the ending but then was disappointing. Although there was a good few twists, I was confused on the reasoning behind the first one. Overall 3/5

Not as good as I was hoping for

This book was recommended to me over and over on TikTok and I had pretty high hopes. I would say the story was okay, but I really disliked the character development. There wasn’t anyone I truly cared for or felt a connection to.

Painfully predictable

I’m not sure what annoyed me more… the naïveté of a main character, the fact that it was chapter34 before I felt slightly invested or the predictable ending. Regardless, I was disappointed with this purchase.

Skip it

If you’re a big psychological thriller fan, I’d skip it. It’s fairly predictable and the character development just isn’t what I’d hoped.

Are You Kidding Me??!!!

The story was very suspenseful, surprisingly twisty, and the gaslighting was infuriatingly believable. Narration was okay, at best. But the ending—are you KIDDING me? Aaaack!

Tedious until the last 2 or. 3 chapters

It’s almost unbearable until you get to the end and that isn’t great either. The “villain” in the story wins every single time at every single turn, which is wildly unrealistic. I nearly quit several times but I generally refuse to do that. And in the end, I’m still left with quite a few questions….

Clueless MC, gripping ending

The main character is infuriating due to being completely clueless! Performance was very good. The ending made the book worth it.

The end was not thaaat worth it

It was entirely too long and too drawn out for the “twist” at the end. Wish there was more to the story but only the last 5 chapters did anything for the book. kinda disappointed
