We all know breakups can get ugly. But sometimes they can get downright vicious, with badmouthing, brainwashing, and allegations of alienation, child abuse, and domestic violence, all leading to nasty custody battles.
No one can solve this problem alone. That's because the wall of alienation between parent and child is built by: the family's own patterns of conflict; family court professionals who get emotionally "hooked"; society's rapidly escalating culture of blame.
But there's hope! Listeners can help kids learn flexible thinking, emotion regulation, effective behaviors, and healthy relationships. Everyone involved must work together. Useful information for a high conflict divorce
I've read and listened to many books on HCP's in divorce that a lot of the information overlaps. This book gives a different perspective for all involved from parents, family members, counselors, attorneys and judges. With information on how to improve going forward. I found it very helpful to refresh my perspective.
It also give great information on what is realistic expectations on the outcome of your parenting plan and what you think is in the best interest of the children may not be achievable in the legal system.
There is a lot of useful information in this book.
If you are dealing with a HCP that you believe has a mental disorder look for "Splitting" by the same author.

Excellent explanation of models of solutions
Different aspects of parental alienation explained with models of the different solutions depending on the severity of the alienation. I really enjoyed how the court system needs to change from adversarial to demonstrable conflict resolution skills focused especially when dealing with high conflict parents.
