Publisher's Summary

There are plenty of normal, decent women out there. This book isn't about them. This book is intended for the men who worked steadily over the last 20-plus years, helped their wives raise the kids, attended all their plays and sporting events, mowed the lawn, took out the garbage, fixed the sink, were patient and understanding during that "time of the month", and fully expected to be married for the rest of their lives.

Then out of nowhere and for no discernable reason, the women they'd loved, honored, and cherished for the last two-plus decades couldn't stand the sight of them and would do anything, (yes, and I mean anything) to get out of the marriage. If this is what you're going through, then you need to read this book. Why? Because I have been where you are now and you're going to need to know what to expect, how to react, how to defend yourself, and how to cope with what might very well be the most difficult period of your life.

No way, Jose

First of all, Audible plays a little trick you may not be aware of. If a title has bad reviews, it defaults to the Amazon site's reviews or Amazon.co.uk (whichever has the more favorable reviews) and hides the audible ones. Make sure you manually click audible reviews.

Secondly, this book is very poorly recorded. To be fair, the narrator actually has a good voice for the work so I didn't mind that it sounded like he was sitting in a bathroom with a tape recorder. What made this book absolutely un-listenable is that after a point, you start hearing a copy machine or some other machine make a squealing noise once ever minute. Once you begin to hear this noise, its so distracting you can't force yourself to listen to the book.

As for the content... this book really paints most women as money-hungry psychos whose only goal in life is to kill you once they've robbed you of your sperm and your money. This book feels a lot like the guy is talking about himself instead of addressing things in a neutral way. I found very little insight in this and only felt it was propaganda to make you fear what a spouse might do to you.

That's if you even get past the grating copier machine noise that occurs every minute.

Don't buy it

By far the worst content, worst audio fidelity (I'm not an audio guy but even I could tell), and mindset of the8 Audible books referred to me during even my tough divorce.

Really guys, same stuff as others without weird bathroom sounding recording.

Entertaining, but not helpful

The author is funny and makes good light of separation and divorce. But, this is not really a self-help book. There are parts that lifted my mood, but there is not really much practical advice. I still recommend it if you have a good sense of humor even while you struggle.

He's Nailed It!

No matter what this seems to be the core. It may get amplified, or reduced by people and the situations their in, but this is the core string of it all.
This gave me insight and understanding, and made me understand there are things I will never understand, into why after 20 years it has to end. And it made me laugh in the process.

Full of hate and bitterness I need to heal , learn

I thought the stories were far fetched and not helpful. I need wisdom not angry trash talk

Not useful

Devoid of any practical advice. It’s a simplistic self-help book with little useful information about getting or surviving a divorce

Sadly, this is surprisingly accurate in many ways.

Sad, but oh so true... in so many ways.
Only helpful if you put the overly macho guy attitude away and simply hear strategy.

Funny and Very True

This is a very funny and honest account of how I was treated in my late fifties. It certainly lifted my spirits while listening to it, which was a short and easy listen. The audio quality lets it down and sounds like it's been recorded in the narrator's bathroom, which another listener commented on in their review of this audio book. It's real life and a bit of fun, not to be taken too seriously.
