Publisher's Summary

Ava's had a hard life, and it's about to get a whole lot tougher!

The deck is stacked against 29-year-old Ava. She’s a fighter, but she’s got trust issues and doesn’t always make the best decisions. Despite her natural beauty, she doesn’t score well in the self-esteem department. Her personal complications aren’t without merit, but America is on the verge of a second civil war, and Ava must pull it together if she wants to survive.

Ava has just lost her adoptive mother to cancer. Her fiancé broke off the engagement shortly after her mom got sick. She has no idea who her biological father is and her adoptive dad walked out on his family for the sweet young thing at the office 15 years ago. With such a long history of loss and abandonment, it’s understandable why she’s hesitant to put her faith in people, but now it’s affecting her relationship with God.

Meanwhile, the tentacles of the deep state have infiltrated every facet of American culture. The public education system, entertainment industry, and mainstream media have all been hijacked by a shadow government intent on fomenting a communist revolution in the United States. The antagonistic message of this agenda has poisoned the minds of America’s youth who are now convinced that capitalism and conservativism are responsible for all the ills of the world. Violent protest, widespread destruction, and politicians who insist on letting the disassociated vent their rage will bring America to her knees, threatening to decapitate the laws, principles, and values on which the country was founded.

Ava refuses to give into fear, but she simply cannot survive on her own. She must deal with her crisis of faith and learn to trust other people, or she’ll never make it through the bloodiest period of America’s history.

Excellent start to a new series

Mark Goodwin is one of my favorite authors. He did an excellent job creating “real”, well-thought out characters who are struggling with everyday problems and are faced with societal breakdown. I love the way he weaves faith and God into the story, and includes Bible verses to support his chapters. I also really enjoy the little tips he throws in there to teach us ways to become more prepared for hard times. I feel this book is timely and thought-provoking. I didn’t want to put it down.

This is the first book I listened to that was narrated by Stacey Glemboski. She did a great job hooking me into the story, keeping me entertained and enjoying her narration. She has a way of letting the material flow smoothly, at a consistent and realistic pace. Excellent performance.

Looking forward to book 2

What did you love best about Divided We Fall: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel of America's Coming Civil War ?

Mark weaves his Christian believes into the political landscape of our times, to bring one more possibility of how we are taking our country over the cliff.

What about Stacey Glemboski’s performance did you like?

It took me a while to get accustomed to Stacey as most of Mark's books that I have listened to have been performed by Kevin Pierce. But, Stacey did a great job!

Another Winner

What was one of the most memorable moments of Divided We Fall: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel of America's Coming Civil War ?

When Ava decided to follow The Lord rather than give up.

What about Stacey Glemboski’s performance did you like?

Everything was great

If you could take any character from Divided We Fall: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel of America's Coming Civil War out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Silly

Any additional comments?

This is another great novel by Mark. The similarities and analogies to our modern day America is fantastic. Very engrossing and has me on edge waiting for the next book in the series.

Fantastic Beginning to Another Great Series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very realistic scenario given the current social/political environment. A great look into what it might be like for a typical American that is not prepared for what may lie ahead.

What other book might you compare Divided We Fall: A Post-Apocalyptic Novel of America's Coming Civil War to and why?

Days of Noah as it has kind of a mixed bag of characters from one end of the spectrum to the other in terms of being in touch with what's going on around us. As always, a great Christian perspective and counter characters. Hmm, wonder if Raquel is Elliott in the making? lol

Which character – as performed by Stacey Glemboski – was your favorite?

Ava and Foley

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Political Powder Keg

Any additional comments?

Was pleasantly surprised by Stacey. It's tough to hear Mark's work being narrated by anyone other than Kevin. But Stacey did a phenomenal job! I only live about two hours from Austin and love listening to books with a Texas setting to which I can identity. Can't wait for the next one!

Another fabulous story by Mark Goodwin!

Like all of Mark’s books, this is an extremely plausible story line set within the headlines of today and the likely headlines of the next few years. With an incredibly likable and believable protagonist, and a supporting cast of characters (both good and bad), Mark has woven another believable tale that will grab your attention and delight you at the same time.

This book is not tied to any of Mark’s prior works, making it perfect for an introduction to the genre and to Mark’s own books.

I highly recommend the audio edition. Stacey Glemboski does a superb job bringing the characters to life. You can feel her emotions and her energy throughout the entire book. I predict a very bright future for her as a narrator.

Outstanding read

it's great to read this genre without immediately jumping into an EMP apocalypse. LOVE the build up and the alternative to an EMP...and a more likely scenario. great job!

Political religious divide

There is lots of politics and religion in this book, personally I don't normally read books like this but the blurb sounded interesting and I'm a fan of the narrator so I decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did, I really enjoyed most aspects of the book, the only thing I found off-putting were all the guns, I'm not a fan of people owning guns so this was a bit off-putting for me. However I can also see why people would be buying guns in the situation that is happening in this book, it actually makes a lot of sense.

I really liked Ava, I love how real she felt, she had moments of strength and moments of weakness, things she was good at and things that she isn't.

The book contains lots of details on what is happening in the world because this is a key driver of society falling apart, it's a very interesting element of the story.

I was really disappointed when the book ended, I'm desperate to know what happens next, and yet I wouldn't call the ending a cliffhanger, it's just that it ends right as if feels like everything is about to start snowballing.

The character voices are excellent and the delivery does a great job of conveying the emotions of the characters and the atmosphere of the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

A new series from Mark Goodwin?

Really like this "first" book in the series.

With that being said, I cannot put into words how much I hate it when an author changes narrators. Especially when they've settled on someone like, "Kevin Pierce," to begin with; when it comes to narrators, they just don't get much better than Kevin.

The main character in this book is a woman, so I get why the Author chose to go with a woman narrator, but I had already kind of made up my mind to be overly critical of her and I must admit, that I was ready to not like her. It's a matter of disappointment when spending your money on a book with an author that you already like, with a narrator you already like, who writes really good books, that you have already grown accustomed to and have come to like; not a guy vs gal thing. I have returned audio books because they had a terrible male narrator...just sayin.

If you, like me, had any concerns about the change in narrator, rest easy as Stacey Glemboski did an absolutely fantastic job reading this book. The author made an excellent decision when choosing to go with her and I hope that he continues to have her narrate future books in this series.

The storyline is great, character development great, simply put another great novel from author, "Mark Goodwin!"

The only thing I hated about this book was its ending.....because I had to wait for the next book in the series to come out!
