Publisher's summary

There is a contagious psychospiritual disease of the soul, a parasite of the mind, that is currently being acted out en masse on the world stage via a collective psychosis of titanic proportions. This mind-virus - which Native Americans have called "wetiko" - covertly operates through the unconscious blind spots in the human psyche, rendering people oblivious to their own madness and compelling them to act against their own best interests.

Drawing on insights from Jungian psychology, shamanism, alchemy, spiritual wisdom traditions, and personal experience, author Paul Levy shows us that hidden within the venom of wetiko is its own antidote, which once recognized can help us wake up and bring sanity back to our society.

Critic reviews

"This book brilliantly exposes how the very roots of the madness that is threatening life on earth are ultimately to be found within our own psyche. I love that Paul is taking seriously the profound implications of what it means that all of us are living in a mass, shared dream. His startlingly clear premise challenges me to reflect upon both the world and myself in radically mind-altering ways. Something important is coming through his imagination-filled musings; his visionary insight into the intrinsic genius of our species feels inspired by a truly creative, compassionate, and enlivening spirit. I always look forward to reading Paul's work; it stimulates me to greater heights of lucidity, disturbs me enough to awaken me out of my complacency, and encourages me to fly on the wings of the creative imagination. The world would be a better place if everyone read this book. His vision is a royal gift for all of us. It makes me want to sing. Bravo!"
—Sting

"Dispelling Wetiko is one of those rare, courageous books that leads us where we would prefer not to go: into the depths of our own shadow. Yet this is the most essential journey for our present time.… It is a must-read, without a doubt."
—Caroline Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit

"Paul Levy summons us by Wisdom's call to community, action, and our higher humanity. Truly initiatory, this book is inviting us to step through the looking glass and consciously participate in our own evolution. In exposing our psychic blindness, Levy is helping us to open our eyes and see."
—Thom Hartmann, author of The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight

"When I read Dispelling Wetiko, I was unprepared for a work of such true brilliance and depth. Paul Levy should be congratulated on writing a seminal work."
—Brad Steiger, author of Revelation: The Divine Fire

Winding Road

This book was challenging for me, although an interesting subject, it took me a week to finish. I wanted to like it. I found myself getting annoyed at the repititions and constant paradoxes. Like really annoyed. The author is very long-winded. I feel like these 14hrs barrage of words could have narrowed down to 4 or 8. There is a notable lack of solutions, this seems more of an exploration than a cure. A sort of laying down tracks of thought that could be useful later. It certainly does seem like he knows what he is talking about though and he covers his experience in the afterword. There are some insights contained in this. I'm just not sure if it's worth all the meandering. It doesn't seem to me that the cure for Wetiko is in this book. If anything I got the impression that the author is explaining how the darkness embedded itself into his mind and is still present, not how he integrated, transmuted, or overcame it. The book cover itself sort of shows that.

A must read for everyone

This book is amazing. So well written and it outs the psychic virus troubling our times. I agree with Sting. If everyone read this book the world would be a much better place. It takes courage to read it! It's so honest, full of integrity, good research, and beauty on all levels that it will rock your world. The reader is something I had to get past. The voice and performance was not good but the book was so good I hung in there and I am so glad I did.

Must Read in these Challenging Times

Would you consider the audio edition of Dispelling Wetiko to be better than the print version?

In these strange and terrible times I have sought to understand the nature of evil as it is so apparently driving the human experience today. Breaking the Curse of Evil gave me exactly the understanding I need to survive and engage in a positive way with the forces of evil in our world today.

Which scene was your favorite?

Most personally important to me was the affirmation that art, and artistic expression, are a powerful force to sweep away the evil forces in our lives.

Important information for mankind to integrate

Where does Dispelling Wetiko rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

top 5

What other book might you compare Dispelling Wetiko to and why?

Whisperings of the Dragon: Shamanic Practices to awaken your primal power. by Lujan Matus.

Have you listened to any of Keith L. O'Brien’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Good narration poor editing. Almost lost me in the first chapter due to poor edits but I am sure the narrator knows this and it will not happen again. As the book moves on there are less edits and the narration becomes fluid and exciting. Overall good job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no. too long for that. But that being said I've listened to it 3 times as the material is so well put together and brilliantly written.

Any additional comments?

Paul Levey is a new hero of mine. By openly exposing his debillitating experience as a mental patient before becoming the brilliant intellectual and author he is today,Paul has the moral authority and insight to expose the dark side of humanity as a mental virus. His understanding and insight into evil as being a non local mental virus which he identifies as Wetiko, is is the most plausable explanation and truth I've come to find on the subject. His work if integrated has the power to heal the individual and the dream world in which we live.Thank you Paul!

Interesting Book to help loosen the grips of Ego

The content of the book is great though my problem is with the choice of narrator. This narrator’s voice is just hard to listen to, or it was in my case. Since I’ve been listening to more audiobooks I have found out how important the narrator is. He or she can make or break the book.

Wetiko Whako

This book is the weirdest book I have ever heard or read. The narrator's voice is totally creepy.

10 hours of repetition. MADDENING

I believe that this real, and if I can remember it in the moment... it will be transformative! that said, I found a 15 minute YouTube video that did a better job of explaining. How is it possible to use this many words a say so little. 99% repetition!

Boring!

What this author said could’ve been done in one or two sentences so the rest of the book was just fluff and filler.

Not sure what to make of this

Any additional comments?

This is a very strange and thought-provoking book. I'm not sure what to make of the thesis, perhaps it is nonsense but a lot of it made sense to me and would certainly help explain some things I have seen in my life. At any rate it gets you thinking and noticing things you hadn't noticed before, so totally worth the listen. Personally I had a very strong negative reaction to the narration, make of that what you will.

Repetitive

I couldn’t listen to the narrator, which for me is unusual; the author’s insistence on constantly repeating his own name for the weitiko every few sentences became grating and was completely unnecessary….. this is sad as I am convinced that there is an important message contained within this book.

Very interesting and thought provoking.

Paul’s real life experiences, perceptions, interpretations and explanations of spiritual existence.

This was a very interesting read. In a way it almost had a calming effect on me as thinking in this manner makes it easier to explain real life behaviours.

Why are people are the way are? What lead them to where they are (e.g. trauma/growth)? The human experience and what growth means and the mind “virus” infecting humanity through its experience.

The narrator was fluent and clear. His voice annoyed me a little as I found it a bit high pitched for my comfort level.

But maybe it just my Wetiko, or Surfers ear…..
