One cannot understand Bible doctrine correctly without obeying God and entering into personal relationship with the Lord (John 7:17; 1 Corinthians 2:14). Experiencing one's own new life in Christ should be the beginning of proper study of Christian doctrine. In this second book we now take a journey through the first part of the Bible, the Old Testament. We begin with an overview of the Bible and some general issues before plunging into the thirty- nine books that make up the Old Testament. It is a well-known fact that the Old Testament is of keen interest to Africans. In many senses they find themselves more at home within the largely rural cultures of the Old Testament than do some other cultures around the world. A grasp of the history and content of God's word as revealed in the Old Testament is very fundamental to our foundation in God's revelation. We believe the present and future strength of the African Church will be far greater if we can hold this revelation very close to our hearts.
