Potential clues come in as fast as the suspects: A documentary film director, a wacky artist, and a feral-cat enthusiast, to name a few. It turns out everyone in town has skeletons in their closet - even her new friends. If Verity doesn’t find out the truth soon, then the next local legend buried in the ground...could be her.

GREAT READ
AFTER A SLIGHTLY SLOW START IN HER FIRST BOOK, THIS ONE WAS GREAT. THE STORYLINE AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WERE ENTERTAINING. THE RELATIONSHIP TRIANGLES ARE HEATING UP (ALBEIT SLOWLY, IN SOME CASES), AND THE MYSTERIES SURROUNDING VERITY'S AUNT AND "CONTROL" ARE CERTAINLY GETTING INTERESTING. ON TO BOOK 3!

DIGGING UP TROUBLE IS THE SECOND IN THE LEAFY HOLLOW MYSTERIES BY RICKIE BLAIR. This is the first of the series I have listened to and feel Ok is just about as good as it got. The narration was good as the narrator made the characters come out as individuals but the plot left a little to be desired.

Twists and turns and old mysteries
In this second installment of the Leafy Hollow Mysteries, Verity Hawkes is beginning to settle into her new life in Leafy Hollow, is getting the hang of the landscaping business left to her by her eccentric aunt, and is making friendships. Of course, trouble follows where Verity goes and an event to honor the town's historic teenage hero is disrupted by allegations of fraud. When the writer who disputed the town legend turns up dead, the beloved town parson comes under suspicion and Verity and friends dive in to try to prove his innocence. Twits and turns abound and a twenty-year old mystery comes to light.
This book was as entertaining as the first installment with many laugh out loud moments. Side stories about support characters contribute to keeping the story interesting as well as the many twists and turns. We learn a little more about Verity's missing aunt and the mysterious Control.
Petrea Burchard did a fabulous job voicing the story. I enjoyed listening to her.
This is an entertaining and delightful cozy mystery and I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Great comfy read!
situational-humor, verbal-humor, friendship, cosy-mystery, murder-investigation, law-enforcement, amateur-sleuth, Canada
I loved it! Verity is a young widow with a lot of emotional baggage and has been transplanted from the West Coast of Canada to the Falls area near the US border. She has a house that has some strange secrets, a missing aunt, a few good friends, and a strong tendency to snoop/sleuth. I think it's a great story and there's some real laughs, too!
In the 3 years since I read the first book in the series I have had more vision issues and can do best with books that TTS (dear robot reader) or audiobooks. That being said, I think that Petrea Burchard is excellent! Great separation of characters who really are and interpretation of their feelings.

Better than the last
Digging Up Trouble, the second book in The Leafy Hollow Series, is better than the first book. The plot is well developed and the characters are engaging and continue to develop. This series really surprised me. There is humor without being silly and the characters are believable. I'm glad I was given a chance to listen to this book for free. I will definitely but the next book in this series.

Another enjoyable book from Rickie Blair
This is the second in the Leafy Hollow Mysteries series, and the Author succeeds once again in drawing the reader into an intriguing mystery that unfolds at a good pace. I'm definitely invested enough in Verity's antics to want to move on quickly to the next book. I only wish there were more.
It makes such a nice change to have a book that has as many light-hearted and funny moments as it does moments of dread, shock, and realisation. If you've read the first book you will, of course, feel moved to read this book, and I would say don't hesitate.
Petrea Burchard is the perfect narrator for this series of books, so I'm looking forward to starting book 3. Oh, and I must mention the General, the cat that is, I just adore Petrea's interpretation of his 'voice' or mewls.

Leafy Hollow Mystery
I have to admit to disliking book one. I found it a bit depressing and unbelievable, especially the reason why she wanted to solve the mystery.
I did not realise this was book two of the book I did not like. As I was listening I realised that I knew some of the characters and once I looked it up I realised why.
I am glad to say that I loved this one a lot more, even if I figured out who did it early on. I loved the drama and humour.
Would highly recommend this book to those who love cozy mysteries with humour.

Dig up a cozy chair sit back and enjoy
I loved this book and listened to it all in one day (with doors locked so I didn't get interrupted). This is such a fun series I am recommending it to my mum. What I love is the characters and the antics that they get up to, very funny. The mystery was good and even though I had worked out who the killer was it was still highly entertaining to be proved right. The story has the right amount of humour, mystery, high Tec gadgets and even a love interest to keep you hooked. I would recommend you start with book one because the stories do have an ending but they also have the mystery of her missing aunt that you learn a little bit more about in each book. Trust me you will In enjoy it, I certainly did and am eagerly waiting the rest of the series being released on audible.
When a professor claims to have proof that debunks the history surrounding a local legend of Leafy hollow, tempers in the village run high. But high enough to kill him? It seems so because his dead body is found the very next day that he gave all the villagers a reason to hate him. Verity finds with everybody under suspicion many of the villagers turn to her for help in clearing there name because she solved the last murder to take place in the village. Was it the film director who got the sack? The artist that knows him better than anyone else? The historical society that would gain money with his death? When the police seem to focus there attention on someone everybody is shocked and Verity and her sidekicks jump straight into the case to prove them wrong.
I liked the narrator, she uses a wide range of voices for the characters and even does a lisp for one of them adding to the fun of an entertaining story.
