Story
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

Story
On the morning of the vernal equinox in 1899, Holmes is roused from his bed by Lestrade. The inspector has received a report of a girl brutally murdered at Stonehenge. Upon arriving at the famed site, Holmes discovers the body of a young woman. On her forehead, painted in blood, is a druidic symbol. On her side, also in blood, is a message written in a strange language that neither Holmes nor Lestrade can decipher. The girl was also eviscerated and her organs placed around her body. As a final touch, branches from yew trees had been artistically arranged around the corpse. Holmes senses a malevolent force at work, but without data, he is powerless. As the weeks pass, he slowly gathers information about the ancient druids and Celtic mythology and begins to assemble a small army of experts to assist him.

Detours in time
This was an ok story with an ok narrator.I found it to be the basic storyline,a man makes a machine, goes forward in time and they can't seem to keep to themselves that they are not from then.Emory Stagmer did get better with time as the story went on. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Time Travel Tale
Detours in Timeline is an entertaining time travel tale, based in 1997, but covering about 50 years forward. It explores both the paradoxes of time travel and the Infinite timelines theory. The two main characters, Milt and Tabitha, are both sympathetic and entertaining. The story starts off slow, but the next five hours are very interesting and entertaining. However, the last hour is really sluggish as the author sets up for the next book. The narrator did a good job with the voice of Milt, but Tabitha’s voice was childlike.

Alt history meets time travel
I won’t go into the plot, which is very good, and I won’t give spoilers.
In the beginning of the book I kinda felt as though the book was written in 1997 or so. If that’s the case I wish I had found it sooner. This book is a time traveling tale with mystery, suspense, romance, and is just a good story. The author has come up with an original concept and is telling a story that needs to be heard.
When the end of the book arrived (way too soon) I instantly wanted to get book 2 immediately.
Overall this is a 5- star book, the narrator is good, but 4 stars on narration due to some minor audio issues.

potential unmet
It was a slow paced, fairly predictable, time travel story. I'm not sure if i want to try the 2nd book, but I can always hope it is better than this one. After all, it is the genre I enjoy so very much.
The performance feels awkward & is hard to get into.

A futuristic time travel romance
Detours in Time follows the adventures of eccentric scientist Milt and his friend and former cleaner Tabitha, better known as Pinky. Milt has built a time travelling car and the two embark on a trip to the future, to see what life in 2047 will be like. Some of the discoveries are surprising, like the trend for body modification and human-animal hybridization that sees people having fish scales , animal limbs and even wings , while some are truly shocking, like the fact that the United States has been split by another civil war. When an unexpected detour on their way home almost causes the death of a young soldier during this war, they decide to return to the future to ensure that their actions have not had any unforeseen consequences, they find that by saving one life, they may have irreversibly changed another, and must try to figure out a way to fix their actions without causing any further damage.
I enjoy a good time travel story , and I found myself completely drawn in by the first part of this book, and the author's vision of the future though I found my self losing interest a little once the duo returned to their present and it became something of a more straight forward romance story. I struggled to find the romance believable, the characters just didn't quite sell it for me. I found the dialogue very unnatural at times, and not just when the author had clearly intended it to be so, as she does with some of the characters set in the future. It may just be that I am not a lover of romance in general, but I wish the book had spent more time on the time travelling and less on the developing relationship between the characters. The writing was snappy and the author was good at getting her point across, her vision of the future was well developed. The one little idiosyncrasy that grated on me was the repeated use of "he/she shook her head yes", which seems like a really awkward way of saying they nodded. I listened to the audio book, read by Emory Stagmer and I have to say I really liked the tone and timbre of his voice in general, the only exception being the rather breathy voice he chose to use for Pinky, it seemed far too juvenile for the character, and somewhat stereotypical. It made her sound more like a young teen than a woman in her prime, perfectly capable of standing on her own two feet, and speaking up for herself ( when allowed to do so !) It just didn't seem to fit with the character, which is a shame. I also wish he had been just a touch more dynamic at certain points of the story that called for more drama and intensity.
I was supplied with a copy of the audio book by the author, all opinions are my own.
