Publisher's Summary

In Devil's Gate

As a coroner, medusa Seremela Telemar has always felt more comfortable chatting over a dead body than over drinks. But when her wild niece, Vetta, runs off to Devil's Gate, a lawless town that has sprung up overnight in a modern-day gold rush, she knows she has to extricate her before the rebellious girl gets into real trouble. Though she's confident in her head snakes' ability to defend her against attackers, Seremela is still a bit nervous about braving this modern-day Wild West by herself.

Vampyre Duncan Turner is not about to let his new co-worker go into that chaos alone. His Vampyric power and lawyer smarts make him the perfect ally, and the fact that he already had his eye on Seremela for more personal reasons, doesn't hurt matters. Any romantic thoughts pull up short, however, when they arrive at Devil's Gate and learn Vetta is set to hang by morning.

In order to save Vetta and themselves, Seremela and Duncan are going to have to fight fire with force and magic with fangs. And pray they make it out of Devil's Gate alive.

In Hunter's Season:

As a palace guard and assassin for the Dark Fae, Xanthe always wore a mask, hiding her emotions to do her duty. But when her identity is compromised, she trades undercover work for guarding Queen Niniane - a position that often brings her in contact with Chancellor Aubrey Riordan. Aubrey's trust is shattered. A year ago his wife tried to assassinate their new queen in his name, a betrayal of everything he believes in. And now an attack on his life is proof the dark conspiracy is not yet over. Although injured and weak, Aubrey can't help but be drawn to this shy assassin and loyal protector. Xanthe is everything Naida wasn't, and the passion she stirs in him is something he thought had long passed him by.

Another Great Listen in a Favorite Series

Each addition to the series brings readers further into the Elder Race world. The characters are unique, each with thier own powers, personalities and backstories. The story is packed with action, intrigue and romance. It's the perfect combination when combined with the high quality narration to bring readers a paranormal treat.

I review for the Guilty Indulgence Review Site.

Stupid Females

I threw my phone when the main characters from the first story stopped 2 freaking feet from freedom to have a “why” conversation- STUPID- and guess what they were attacked. Terrible plot device that will aggravate any reader with half a freaking brain! How is this the same author that gave me Dragos and Pia? These stories were simply stupid!

2 novellas in one

Devil’s Gate

I really liked Seremela and Duncan in Serpents Kiss. So I was happy I got to read about them coming together.

Duncan’s a Vampire and was Carlings attorney, he had a short part in her book but I liked him and I thought he left a lasting impression.

Seremela was a medical examiner that helped Carling and Rune learn more about vampirism from a medical standpoint. She was bookish and a bit nerdy imo. But I didn’t get that impression in this story.

In this book her niece has run away to an unsavory encampment and Seremela’s sister asks her to retrieve her. When Duncan finds out what she is about to do, he goes with her. He can’t stand the thought of her being in danger. He has clearly been crushing on her and has finally decided to make his intentions known. I loved their chemistry.

Hunter’s Season

Xanthe is an assassin for the dark fae Queen. After her last mission went a little esque (in the last book) it was decided that she was no longer available to be used on undercover missions. Instead she became the Queens bodyguard.

Aubrey was the chancellor to the dark fae court and an honorable man. Xanthe had a crush on him from afar for many years. When Aubrey is attacked and injured, Xanthe is chosen to guard and nurse him back to health.

Quick Love

Nice short stories, but the instant love????? Come on. I guess the author is trying to make sure all of the main characters get to have their stores told.

Disappointing addition to Elder race stories

Poorly developed stories , comparable to cheep harlequin novels. Too bad. I like the elder race series a lot but this one was a bust

Love this series!

I just love the Elder Races series! I'm so glad I stumbled upon it while looking for stories about dragons. I find myself trying to figure it what twist Thea's got up her sleeve and I'm never even close to being right. To me, that's what it's all about - keeping the reader engaged and guessing. PS - I love the narrator as well!

I didn't want it to end.

I love The Elder Races series!! I've listened to every book in the series now and I want more! I had to backtrack to listen to the Tarot novellas because they have a different name in Audible than they did in the book order list that I got from Google but I'm so glad I found them!

Seremela and Duncan, Xanthe and Aubrey

Loved every moment of both stories. Thea Harrison's moving and thoughtful prose combined with Sophie Eastlake's beautifully nuanced performance make this a favorite book. I eagerly lookforward to more from this pair.
