Publisher's Summary

Terrified of becoming mated like her parents, Isabelle has locked herself away in order to avoid their fate. She is content to stay sheltered among her family, hidden away as she lives out her days away from the human race and the world. Despite her determination to remain alone, her world is rocked when a person from her parents' past arrives at their door, bringing with them the powerful and stunning vampire Stefan.

Though Stefan is not expecting to arrive at a nest full of vampires, he is immediately drawn to the vibrant, often defiant, and willful Isabelle. To his surprise Isabelle does everything in her power to avoid him and her desire for him. No matter how hard she tries to fight it, Isabelle begins to realize that trying to deny her destiny may just destroy them both, as there are some things that cannot be stopped. But just as she begins to let her guard down, Stefan's dark and deadly past catches up to him and threatens to destroy them both.

Isabelle is an annoying crybaby.

What did you like best about Destined? What did you like least?

I loved all the characters except Isabelle.

If you’ve listened to books by Brenda K. Davies before, how does this one compare?

The first was definitely much better. I hope the third makes up for this one.

Any additional comments?

Isabelle was just too naive, immature and judgmental for me.

Poor story line.

I loved the 1st book! I am not sure what the author was thinking here or how the editor let this one get published but the only good part about it was the last 2 chapters. This book really dragged on and on. I kept listening because I paid for it for one and second the 1st was so good!!!! Very disappointed with this one.

Soul Mates, Never Wanted or Never Thought Would Be Found

The second book in the series..not absolutely necessary to read the first, but you’ll get more out of the story..the background and understanding of soulmates.
It is 25 years after the first book and we move into the stories of the children of Liam and Sere from book 1.
Isabelle is their daughter, not wishing to replicate her parents and the dependence on another person (soulmate) she has isolated herself away from everyone but her family.
Stefan is a vampire who is over 200 years old and has lived a life traveling around the world and experiencing much except he is alone and empty.
Two different people who experience something they either didn’t want or thought they’d never have.
A wonderful story of love, family, commitment, danger, loneliness, revenge, protectiveness, fun, humor, tragedy, jealousy...mostly live and devotion! And some hot romantic scenes! Yes they are romantic!
I loved this book, just like the first!
Don’t miss out!

Brenda Davies is an amazing writer. This series is one of my favorites. I love the way she brings the characters to life you feel what they feel. It is a great book.

Good book but...

Overall, I enjoyed this story but what kept me from giving it 5 stars was the female lead, Isabella, whining too much. She seemed to be a smart and practical woman but you would guess she never interacted with other beings and the emotional roller coasters that sometime occur. Yet, she has 9 siblings, the stooges, & parents to work out relationships/emotions with. Love Stefan's character!

Another great story!

This was better the second time, for sure. I do love the first, tomboy that Isabelle represents. She's nurturing but one helluva fighter too. Add Stefan to the mix and it's war they'll both win and lose at. The war of love, never dies!

And once again, Tavia Gilbert nailed hear characters. She makes the book come to life as only she can.

(Originally read in 2014)

I loved this story. Years after Sera and Liam were bonded and moved off with Mike, Doug, David and Jack with their two children... now, twenty plus years later and the fun is really starting.

Their eldest son (Ethan)and daughter (Isabelle) are determined to not be like their parents. They want to avoid the whole 'soul mates' craze. One thing we should all know, you can't hide from destiny or fate. On a chance encounter at their homestead Isabelle meets eyes with Stefan a 200 year old vampire hottie. The world shifts and then all hell breaks loose. Isabelle, the sheltered, unknowledgeable virgin has her world turned on its tail and she fights it the whole damn way. The girl if so full of the unknown and fear that she loses herself (in my opinion) until Stefan makes her see what she needs. he does this by leaving her.

When he comes back they both find out they are soul mates. They can't hide from it. Then his past comes back to slap him in the face. Love can overcome anything, right? hell yeah it can. They make it through the rough time. they talk it out, finally and the family all moves on. A new love blossoming into an eternity of happiness.

Somewhat slow in places but a good story overall

I read the first book in this series last year and never got around to reading book two. With the way book one ended I wasn't really sure I wanted to continue the story... I'm not one of those people that wants to read about the white picket fence family, regardless of how much sex and vampire you throw in the mix. ;)

However I did enjoy the first book, and I really liked Brenda Davies writing style, so I decided to give book two a chance.

For the most part I liked the book. I like Stefan's character, but as for Isabel... she's rather whiny and so sheltered that it's almost ridiculous. There were some chapters that seemed to drag on with no real purpose and others that were so full of action and plot twists that your head would be spinning. There was a lot of potential for more dramatic scenes that weren't taken advantage of in my opinion; the drama happened and a solution was quickly found and daily life returned to normal, repeat pattern. Nothing lasted long enough to create suspense.

Overall it's a good read, I see potential for the next book which seems to take place away from the homestead.

Immature and Frustrating

Stefan is over 200 years old so he should have the patience, maturity and control of a 200 year old vampire. Instead, he has the maturity of a teenager. He has no patience and his personality comes across as more abusive than controlling. He has terrible tantrums and the way he treats Isabelle is unacceptable.

5 star narrator performance.

It was pretty good

At the beginning of the book I was very lost and confused because there are so very many characters. Too many. But I love Tavis Gilbert and Brenda Davies so I worked through my confusion.

Loving the series

Very interesting storyline. Love the story and reader. The story line could go on for a long time. Hope the next leading female if a stranger female, but did not detract from my enjoyment of the book.
using different vampires. Can't wait for next book. More
