Publisher's summary

He thought he’d done everything right. With his world falling apart, is his salvation the child he doesn’t understand?

Greg Jackson believes he’s earned every good thing. A decorated cop in the K9 division, he excels at putting away the bad guys. Though he knows how to handle any problem on the streets, he’s completely undone at home, when his son is diagnosed with autism.

Relying on alcohol to manage the stress, he’s delighted to discover that the liquor fuels dreams wherein he can connect and have a normal relationship with his boy. But when the booze leads to a deadly mistake at work, Greg finds himself in a churning cauldron of social unrest ready to boil over.

Can the embattled policeman survive a political firestorm and learn to appreciate what he has?

Desperate Pursuits is a riveting family drama novel. If you like flawed heroes, heart-wrenching twists, and autism pride, then you’ll love Gerald Turning Jr’s inspiring tale.

Amazing...

Amazing. Kept my attention & didn't want to stop listening. I listened to the entire audio book in 3 days! Great representation of autistic individuals & the complicated feelings that come with parenting an autistic child. Great storyline. Loved it

Powerful, moving, complex…

Just finished this and honestly couldn’t stop listening until it was finished. I stole every free minute to advance a chapter or two at a time. The main character epitomizes the range of emotions that come at you in the years following a special needs diagnosis, even the ones a parent might not be willing to advertise. But I empathized with the stages you have to experience before arriving at acceptance, even if I didn’t agree with the coping mechanisms. The plot took many turns and was riveting throughout entire novel. Even without personal experiences of autism, the suspense of the story was in line with a Patterson title. Definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the best audio books I've ever heard!

Being a career police officer with a severely autistic son. This book was amazing! listen to it! you won't regret it. I was feeling genuine emotions listening to this book. it had a great story! I could relate to alot of this book as an autism parent! I will be purchasing a physical copy to have for my collection! it's clearly written by a loving father that knows what being a autism parent and a police officer involves!
