Publisher's summary

A post-apocalyptic tale of America’s coming economic and societal collapse.

"And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation." (Amos 8:10)

Thanks to Caleb’s and Bristol’s bravery, Cocke County has been freed from the Koontz family’s greedy grip. However, in a world that is being savaged by an economically induced famine, the local criminal cartel is far from the only threat.

To combat the growing crisis, President Teivel signs the Restore America Act into law. The new legislation grants emergency powers to FEMA enabling them to set up shelter and sustenance centers in all major metro areas. The Restore America Act mandates that all citizens report to the nearest relief center or face involuntary relocation.

Caleb and Bristol ignore the unconstitutional order but while on a scavenging mission to gather medical supplies, they butt heads with a military patrol searching for survivors in Newport. They try to escape but to no avail. Caleb and Bristol are detained and transported to the Knoxville FEMA super complex. Trying to evade the military earns them a trip to Camp 11, Resocialization, which is set up for wayward citizens who need to be taught to appreciate what their magnanimous government is trying to do for them.

Once there, they learn that Camp 11 is far from the most egregious form of FEMA’s compulsory compassion. Caleb and Bristol will have to be on their toes to not get sucked further down the rat hole before they get an opportunity to escape.

As with all works by Mark Goodwin, this book contains no profanity and no embarrassing sex scenes. However, if you're offended by conservative principles and references to Scripture, this book might not be for you.

Another great series -Thanks MG

Mark Goodwin does it again. This series keeps my heart pumping. I like Pierce as narrator better but once I got used to this narrators way it was ok. Looking forward to the next series. There are a few left to explore before I’m all caught up.

Tough to listen to

I love all of the stories from this author. He's the reason I started listening to post apocalyptic sagas. This one though, was a bit hard to listen to. It sounded like I was listening to an episode of dateline or 20/20. The narrator sounded out of breathe alot, and I couldn't tell the difference between the which character was talking. The volume kept going up and down. I had to keep adjusting the sound. It just wasn't a good performance. If "The Days of Lot" is narrated by the same guy, I won't be able to listen to it. Mark Goodwin is still one of my favorites and I understand Kevin Pierce wanted some extra stuff, but Kevin had the books on lock.

Another amazing series!!

This series should be done in order. There are comments in this that refer to Caleb’s history. This book often had me thinking - “no, don’t do that!” “Stop” was another thought in my mind quite often as well. I finished this too quickly, but only because I didn’t want to stop listening. If you are not a Christian, the Bible verses at the beginning of chapters may not be something you enjoy, but by the end of the series, you may just want to open your Bible. If you like stories that have the common man become a hero, then this series will be up your alley. I have listened to all of his series and have loved every one of them. Take a chance on this series if you have never given Mark Goodwin a try. You will most likely not want to stop till you read or listen to all of his series. The narrator of this series is wonderful to listen to as well.

Another great series

Mark Goodwin never fails to deliver, I particularly like this book’s interesting take on depopulation, very thought out all be it gross to think about, yet still believable

Unique perspective on the collapse of the US economy.

What would be a nightmare in any scenario, is told in a way that gives the reader insight into how to prepare for what might happen in a similar circumstances.
