The reality of the latest tragedies in Green Bayou leaves Emily feeling overwhelmed. Adding to her uncertainty is Donovan Guidry, an overzealous district attorney who wants to make a name for himself by shaking up the law enforcement community. Setting his sights on Bert, Emily’s best friend and the closest thing she has to a brother, Guidry reopens the investigation into the shooting of fellow deputy, Kent Sonnier. Heartbroken at the prospect of Bert spending life behind bars, Emily turns to her boyfriend, Sheriff Holden Dautry for help. Preoccupied by the chaos, he continually brushes her off, so the new chief deputy offers his help. Knowing firsthand how painful reopening wounds of the past can be, gives Emily support and encouragement like no one else. All of Emily’s relationships are put to the test, and just as things reach their breaking point, Mother Nature throws one heck of a curveball.
