Publisher's Summary

Sometimes what’s done in the dark doesn’t need to come to the light. It should stay shut away forever. The lifestyle of sisters Rhonnie and Ahli Drake is proof of that.

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Ronnie and Ahli have been raised to do the unthinkable to survive. With their father setting up all of their dangerous hits, the two have easily stolen over $200,000 over the years. Still, they feel a void. They want to live normal lives while they still can.

Before they can perform their last job, which their father has promised will get them out of the game for good, a prior hit comes back to haunt them. It leaves their father with his throat slit and the girls in fear for their lives. With no money and no safe place to go, the girls have no choice but to agree to do one last hit.

What is supposed to be just a job turns into what will be the most horrific experience of their lives. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next, this twisted tale takes a deep dive for the worse.

Good book

I was excited to listen to a book with the characters from Omaha, Nebaska. I am from Omaha. I am very familiar with all neighborhoods. The book was exciting and interesting. I did enjoy the twists. I was happy for the girls at the end. I knew Brayln was going to be a good guy.🤗 I would like to see a book two regarding the Kings. Now there was a lot of repeating, overall the book was still good.oh yeah Madame was one crazy itch, lol.😁

Disappointing for a C.N. Phillips Book...

To start, the narration was absolutely AWFUL!! She paused so many times in the first few chapters I kept thinking my device was stalling. Midway through the book I got used to it and the repeat lines, very annoying, though. It took a while for all of the characters and their stories to connect to each other. The evil dom-madam and the creepy inn ummmm, naw! Then, in pops up Sadie in the very last chapter; what's going on here? If this is supposed to be the follow up to Last Kings, which I read a long time ago and very much enjoyed, I am highly disappointed. Do better CNP

Deep

The premise of the book was great. The editing of the audiobook was HORRIBLE. Someone should have given the audiobook a final listen. Took away from the book.

Hmmmm

The story line was great. The author was trash I’ve heard her read other books and it’s the same tempo and to many mistakes, long pauses and repeats. I think I would enjoy the paper version better.
