Publisher's summary

All are equal in death.

Tallora’s world ends in a single, bloodstained night, and all the world will fall in line, unless the gods interfere. But divine aid comes at a price no mortal can pay, except in death, and perhaps Death, herself, has a few tricks of her own.

From the author of Fallen Gods comes a tale of redemption and sacrifice - and the true power of forgiveness.

It was even better the second time!

This was easily the best wlw fantasy romance I've ever listened to. Granted, I haven't been able to find a whole lot of them... But still. I felt so many emotions during this series. I laughed, I cried, I felt the heartache and turmoil, the joy and happiness of the characters. It was relatable, even thought it involved gods and goddesses and mythical creatures. It had such a good ending, even if it left me wanting more (because it's such a good story with good characters! I didn't want it to end!). To be honest, I will probably give it a 3rd listen soon.... I love it that much. And going through the series the 2nd time, I picked up on little things I totally missed the 1st time around!

Give this series a try

I’m sad that it ended but I was completely shocked at the ending. I always try to predict how a book will end but I wasn’t even close. Simper did an amazing job and I can’t wait to hear some other books by Simper.

One of my favorite trilogies

What not to live about a steamy lesbian mermaid trilogy. I absolutely love this story.

A tale of true love and a beautiful end...

Death's Abyss is the climax of an emotional tale built upon two previous books leaving the author breathless and desperate for a beautiful end. The book proves to be even more of a tear-jerking and joyous adventure than its sister books from start to finish.

Tallora is left alone in the sea of her own turmoil while the Silver Flame burns as brightly as she was meant to. All around, the land is laid bare by destruction and chaos as mighty forces work to control the world. Dragons, mermaids, demons, and gods cannot help but enter the fray, upping the stakes and pushing the plot to the edge. Can Tallora temper the flame as the Goddess of Stars soothes the power of the Moon, or will she be consumed? Will Death upset the already fragile balance, or have demons from the shadow realm already doomed them all? The exciting conclusion to Sea and Stars comes with a simple warning: Once you start, you may not be able to stop reading it until it's done.

Death's Abyss continues to dig into deep philosophical issues, mental health, and how we see morality. The subtext of the series is deep in psychological and epistemic curiosities, and the symbolism is anything but black and white. The author weaves several tales, some direct and some implied, each a reflection of the other. The result is a tantalizing tale that leaves the reader introspective and emotionally fulfilled, not to mention teary-eyed.

Loved it!!

I have loved this trilogy! It’s full of political intrigue, love, heart break, and so much more! Just when I thought I had this story figured out SD Simper went on a different path. Dauriels character arc is one of epic proportions. She makes mistakes and learns from them but also backslides causing me to cheer on someone I disliked at the beginning of the story. I will be listening to this story over and over again. My only complaint is that there isn’t a fourth book.

I absolutely loved this series from start to finish. Its an emotional rollercoaster, but the payoff at the end is DEFINITELY worth it!
