Death Comes to Town

SPIES IN WEATHERFORD, TEXAS! It didn’t seem possible. After all this is 1958; not World War II, there didn’t seem to be any reason for spies anymore, but Carl Forester is dead. Jamie Forester and her mom have to live with that knowledge. Jamie would miss her brother, but she isn’t going to miss all the strange people who begin to show up asking about the letters her brother had in his possession. When she found the letters, what could she do with them? She certainly wouldn’t turn them over to people clamoring for them. Maybe she could speak with Chief Deputy Fisk about them. After all he is a friend, even if he works for Sheriff Young.
Chief Deputy Kenneth Fisk has worked for the sheriff’s office since he graduated from Weatherford Junior College. He and Carl were in the same graduating class at Weatherford High School, and he knew Carl’s sister Jamie. When Jamie came to him with strange letters that she found when she packed up her brother’s possessions, he isn’t sure what to make of them. Sheriff Young wants to call the FBI and in particular Agent Jeffery Swanson. When dead bodies start showing up Kenneth knows he made the right decision. Now he just has to keep Jamie safe.
