Wonderfully Thrilling

I think that this book is my favorite of the Psychic Eye series. It was thrilling and had me so anxious to get to the ending to see how it would end.

My only problem with the audio book is the voice of the character Brice Harrison. Why is he suddenly talking like Urkel? I remember his voice being stronger in previous books, but in this one it's turned into a strange, nerdy sounding character. It was very disconcerting.

Amazing Story...Horrible Narrator

Where does Deadly Forecast rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right at the bottom. The narrator is all wrong for this book. Her voice is grating and annoying and I found it took away from the great story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deadly Forecast?

The ending was very action packed, so I'd have to say it's one of the best parts of the story.

How could the performance have been better?

Yes. The narrator was so wrong for this book. The accent and tone were too much. I really was distracting and took away from the great story. I wish the author would consider finding a different voice in the future. I will not be buying another audiobook in this series if the same narrator continues.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I had a love hate relationship with this one. Loved the story, hated the voice.

Any additional comments?

I really cannot recommend this audiobook to anyone because of the narrator. It was such a huge problem for me. I have listened to other narrator and some were bad, but this one takes the cake. I'd tell someone to buy the book and read it manually, great story....horrible narrator.

Is this the beginning of the end?

I look for to the Abby Cooper mysteries. This book was no different. For the most part I enjoyed it. The mystery was solid, Dutch and Abbey were great. However, the book lost a star with Abby's sister Cat and MJ. #1 I don't like when books go back and forth with the past and present. It doesn't increase the suspense it only becomes a distraction. #2 The inclusion of MJ and Gilley was annoying. The two characters were out of place and didn't add to the progression of the story. They could have been eliminated and Candace and Milo could have played a bigger role in the story. #3 Cat was completely out of character. In the past she has always been a little over the top. But she has never been so obnoxious and over bearing. I expected her to plan an extravagant wedding, but I also expected the wedding to be sophisticated and stylish. The wedding that she planned did not reflect anyone's style. It was actually tacky and offensive. If it was meant to include humor into the story it fell far from it's mark. #4 although Abby's parents were mentioned in the book and it was explained why they would not be attending the wedding, I expected them to attend anyway. In previous books they were described as social climbers and wanting to be in the center of attention. Plus they have a relationship with Cat. The addition of the parents could have served as comic relief and unnecessary drama instead of including MJ and Gilley, and going back and forth with the past and present. I found myself skipping through the book at some points because it was too much. I will buy the next book but if it continues to over exaggerate comic situations I might have to say goodbye to Abby and Dutch.

Another incredibly suspenseful Psychic Eye Mystery

I have loved all of the psychic eye books except Lethal Outlook. I was a little concerned Mrs Laurie was loosing her touch. That was a hollow concern. Deadly Forecast is one of the best, if not the best so far. The only one of the series that comes close, or surpasses, is Vision Impossible: I haven't decided yet. What I really like about this book is the dual timelines of each chapter. That approach, which is new to this series, makes for incredible suspense ... and of course Elizabeth Michaels' narration only enhances the drama. I Found myself laughing out loud several times. Deadly forecast is a must for fans of this series and anyone else wanting a funny, suspenseful, entertaining thriller.

Not too happy

What did you like best about Deadly Forecast? What did you like least?

I did not like how Abby kept the gloomy forecast going all through the book only to be wrong about it. Frankly it was a drag down for one of her books.

What was most disappointing about Victoria Laurie’s story?

THe story line for sure

What aspect of Elizabeth Michaels’s performance would you have changed?

maybe getting happier would have helped but all I heard was her falling down, getting her boyfriend upset & her hips colllapsing on her.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Great book!

Any additional comments?

I was thrilled to see Victoria Laurie's new book! Even though the previous one in the series was not the best, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend reading these books in order, to get a better sense of the environment and the characters. If you like the first few books, you will like this one.

Abby & Dutch's Wedding Day Starts Off With A Bang!

Victoria Laurie has done it again! Finally settling the super duo of Abby and Dutch (FBI Agents extrordinaire) in Texas; the new home is built, and the wedding day is fast approaching! But seemingly random people, girls, have been walking into crowded venues wearing explosives, and blowing themselves (and those in the immediate vicinity) up! Abby has a bad feeling about the case, her intuitive senses telling her that if she gets involved it will hit closer to home than anyone thinks, yet she has the feeling that she has to get involved in order to protect Dutch. So as she races to catch a bombing madman while trying to make it down the aisle to the man she truly loves, she has to tangle with the echoes of a past wedding gone wrong wreaking havoc with her perfectly planned (by her sister, Cat) day and making sure that the bad guys always get what's coming to them. This is the kind of read I can get lost in over and over again...

Inconsistencies, but great story

Fun series, great twisting story.

The narrator has gotten way better, but still doesn't do male voices well. She came up with a new voice for agent Harrison, after him being in 2 previous books, that doesn't fit his personality.

More inconsistencies: M.J. Who used to be Abby's best friend and partner, now seem like near strangers who haven't kept in contact. When Abby talks of her parents, they sound more abusive with each book.
Kat, Abby's sister, seems completely crazy and obsessed, with no reference to the great love and dependence they have on each other, or how they call each other daily, or how Abby has and does stand up to her, or how she mainly lives in Boston with her husband and young twins.

Despite it all, it was a fun romp.

what happen to Brice?

Would you try another book from Victoria Laurie and/or Elizabeth Michaels?

Yes...I would read more of Victoria Laurie... I've read (or listen to) all eleven books in books in row in a matter of a few weeks. And I liked the story line.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I do not know what happen to Brices voice... in this book he sounds like an old lady. I was almost not able to listen. .. I even went back to the other books and his voice was fine, but this voice was horrible.

Any additional comments?

Reissue with the original Brice voice... how could this have been released. ...

Best in the Series

I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series, but this was my favorite listen.. As another reviewer eloquently put it, Abby is all grown up and the story line was more edge of your seat then most of the others in the series.. You don't have to read the entire series to enjoy this book, but the characters will make more sense if you do.
