Such a great book in a great series

This is far and away Drew Hayes' best series. I have read several of his books and he can fall prey to shallow characters that end up playing for the laughs. That's where Fred excels past them all. It is incredibly well character driven. And even though they are all a bit bizarre, odd or possibly hard to believe, Hayes makes them all justified and realistic in their characterizations. He has also done a great job evolving the characters over the series and bringing new, unique, and fun storylines. Kudos to yet another wonderful story!

I ❤️ Debra

I know Fred’s memoirs are not conducive to spinoffs. However, dear Author, (aka Drew Hayes) I hope and wish you will reconsider and tell Debra’s story. I was so touched by her thoughts on her life thus far, it left me craving more. For a dude you give us female readers characters that we can relate to and cheer for.

More we need more

up front I'll tell you I love this series
In this one Fred actually learns how to be a vampire instead of just being a human with digestive problems and a light allergy.
We also get to know more about vampires and the fae as the wedding gets closer.

It just gets better and better

I absolutely love the Fred series and Kirby Heyborne is the best fit as narrator. the fifth book in the series didn’t disappoint and has the usual hilarious moments and plot twists I’ve come to expect from Drew Hayes. The only problem is the long wait for the next book! #vampires,#shifters,#clever,#funny,#torturedhero,#tagsgiving,#sweepstakes

a great addition

I have listened to this book several times. I think the world of Fred the Accountant is beautifully whimsical and offbeat. This book is great because the protagonist offers a deeper insight into that world. if you enjoyed the other Fred books, I find it hard to imagine you would not enjoy this one as much.

enjoyable but skipable

Easily the most low-key book in the series. It is a mundane affair skippable on re-reads if the series goes long but not unenjoyable.

Tests and assessments can be tough, but with Fred, they are an adventure.

The much feared and terrifying vampire blood council sends a member to test Fred’s fitness to lead his clan. Fred has a secret, he needs to find a way to keep that secret. Fred needs to pass the tests and keep his clan safe, he also has a lot to learn as far as being a vampire goes.
Adventures in testing, as only Fred can do it. Kept me wanting to know what the next move would be.
I really enjoyed Deadly Assessments.

Accountancy... its a dangerous occupation if your 1st name’s Fred!!

I have to admit when I first started listening to Fred’s stories read by Kirby Heybourne I hated them! I found his style very boring almost like listening to an accountant reading the book and that’s when I realised I’d hit pure gold!!! Kirby IS Fred, the cadence that he reads Fred’s parts with is exactly how you would expect someone who was an actuary to sound.
Each book is filled with crazy (Fred calls them lunatics but I won’t) characters and with each additional book you gain more insight into the how, what and why that makes them who they are so that your ‘Fredverse’ expands.
I won’t explain the books other than to say if you are looking for something that is different, filled with humour and won’t give you nightmares after listening then these are the books for you! (You Just have to get past the first 20 minutes of the very first book to get used to the reading style)

This generation's Harry potter

Fred constantly provides more interesting topics about it's universe with each chapter, it brings me back to first reading and growing with Harry potter and waiting eagerly for the next book to find out more about the universe and magic spells and creatures

Fred captures this feeling perfectly using the same formula of having the main character discover things at the same rate as the reader and it has also mastered the art of keeping the reader invested, there have been moments in this series in which I got genuinely excited as something unfolded and then said "yes!" in a burst of joy once my assumptions came to fruition

on the audio department this series is no slouch either, with very well delivered dialogue and distinct voices punctuating each character despite there only being one narrator. I will always remember showing Gideon's voice to a friend who had read the book and having them simply say "yes."

on the note of different voices, in this specific book there were a few mistakes, two if I remember correctly, in which the voice for the character was dropped mid sentence, it was definetly not a deal breaker but it was a bit distracting, I mostly blame that on the likely need for multiple takes/needing a break and returning to reading

overall it's a very good book and a great narration, and I full heartedly recommend it

I just LOVE Fred!

I have loved all of theses books and I cannot recommend them enough. I just think that the 'House of Fred' would be such a wonderful thing to be part of. I love that Drew Hayes has taken one of the most ordinary and relatively boring jobs and thrown this ordinary decent chap into a world that is so much more than boring. The characters are incredibly endearing and Fred is beautifully read by Kirby Heyborne. This would be a great, quick read for anyone who likes a light-hearted read with a fun and entertaining mix of humour and adventure. More please Drew!

A great book for the series!

A awesome addition to the series!
A great focus on the main character and his abilities, also a good representation of how close the “house of Fred” is, almost family like.

The introduction of a new faction and the showing how influential said faction is was an excellent addition to the series.

I would happily recommend this book to anyone that likes vampires or the idea that Hollywood has glorified the afterlife.
