Publisher's summary

Beloved New York Times bestseller M. C. Beaton’s cranky, crafty Agatha Raisin—the star of her own hit T.V. series—is back on the case again.

A visit to the local village fete for a spot of fun and relaxation turns into a nightmare for Agatha Raisin when she discovers the body of the local landowner in the woods with an arrow in his chest and trousers round his ankles.

Agatha’s old adversary, Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes, declares the death a tragic accident, believing the victim has been hit by a stray arrow from an archery demonstration. Agatha is convinced of foul play, however, and is shocked when Wilkes eventually agrees … with her as his prime murder suspect.

Determined to clear her name and find the real killer, Agatha launches her own investigation, quickly becoming involved with a family at war, an unscrupulous gangster, and a killer who is determined to make her the next victim …

Looking forward to the future!

I am so glad RW Green is carrying on for M.C. Beaton and keeping Agatha alive, as it were. I really enjoyed this story and that Agatha seems to have moved on with a new man. I always held out hope for her and Charles, and actually still do, but am glad she is past James. I missed the line up of usual characters but understand that they can't all be in every single book. Now I am looking forward to February and the release of the new Hamish Macbeth book and then to the next Agatha book!! The fans will keep you busy as you can be Mr. Green!

Agatha evolved.

I like the new version of Agatha. The old Agatha is still there but with age has come confidence. It is exactly what I would have hoped for her. She was already learning from past hurts and mistakes, so it feels right for her. All our favorite characters are there and they too are evolving, with the exception of Inspector Wilkes. Fun mystery and drama. Perhaps a little more violence but all works out in the end. Great performance by the narrator.

Love Penelope Keith reading.

One of the best narrators on Audible. Great, funny, amusing book’s series. I have listened to all of M. C Beaton’s books.

Another fun outing with Agatha

I appreciate that Green is keeping Agatha’s stories going. I think that he has slightly shifted Agatha’s personality and softened it a bit, making her a bit more reasonable, so that we can have the scene where Agatha and James talk reasonably to a reasonable conclusion. Hallelujah! However, we still have the Agatha who is always checking her appearance, wondering about her clothes and makeup. Classic Agatha. I’m so glad.

Nothing says Agatha Raisin like Penelope Keith

Penelope Keith does a consistently outstanding job reading the Agatha Raisin series. I hope there will be more in the future! Love the series!

Excellent storyline

I loved hearing Agatha’s voice . If I had to add something, it would be a storyline of Toni and other characters having love interest and time in their own homes with things going on in their lives. Another winner!!!

Agatha with heart and soul

I liked that several others were deeply involved, the impact of investigating had consequences, such as tracking a suspect, alone, and Mrs Bloxby is shrt with an arrow.
Agatha has compassion, able to consider others. love she is falling in love.

Thank you, R. W. Green!

Excellent performance from Penelope Keith, as always! Can't she just narrate our everyday lives? And thrilled that R.W. Green was able to, not just accept the weight of the Agatha Raisin legacy, but step up to the challenge of keeping that beautiful universe created by the genius that was M.C. Beaton legitimately thriving. Kudos - and - thank you!

It is nice that Agatha has returned. Hopefully she will return again.

There are no complaints about the story. I wish the author the best in keeping Agatha alive and sleuthing.
