Publisher's summary

Jason and Vanessa are back with a new lieutenant and a new case.

With the discovery of a young woman's body on a greenway trail, the detectives are thrown into a desperate search for a killer.

Using the cover of darkness, he stalks his victims, then disposes of them like roadside trash.

To catch him, Jason and Vanessa must maintain their composure while they follow a killer into the Dead of Night.

Another enjoyable listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Dead of Night to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the print version of any of Dalglish's books yet

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Vanessa. The author is portraying her realistically, with nice touches of home life that must often show up in both the men and women's lives at times

Which scene was your favorite?

I'm enjoying the scenes with Dr. Josey and the coroner as they give Jason a hard time

Any additional comments?

I like the realism the author includes in the story - the little things like the dispatch communication, the narrative during the chase, that sort of thing

A scarily plausible murder mystery

Another great story involving Detective Jason Strong. The plausibility of the attacks in this story is scary, you would not think twice about getting out of your car to exchange info with the other person in a fender bender. After reading this story I will defiantly think twice about it. I loved the depth that the author has created in the various characters as the books have progressed and with the changes occurring in this book, it will be interesting to see where Jason and Vanessa's lives will lead. Although this is a stand alone story, there are threads that build from book to book creating an interesting world with characters that grow in depth and complexity with each additional story. The narrator of the audiobook fits the story well, bringing the characters and story to life. It is interesting, enjoyable and a little disturbing and I will look forward to another book in this series. I received the audiobook at no cost and under no obligation.

Like a cop show on TV

The is an excellent police procedural, but I enjoyed it less than the two prior novels I listened to in this series. The difference is narration.
