Publisher's Summary

A detective with everything to prove. A devastating murder. A town full of secrets….

Haunted by the serial killer she never caught, Detective Kimberley King leaves her job in New York and relocates to the sleepy town of Dead Woman Crossing, Oklahoma. Kimberley hopes to bring her daughter Jessica up close to her family, far from the bad memories the city holds. But her quiet new home is not the peaceful place she dreamed of. Within days of her arrival, Kimberley is called to the scene of a terrible crime: her friend Hannah, a single mother, has been brutally murdered while her one-year-old daughter was sleeping nearby.

Kimberley can’t ignore the similarity of Hannah’s death to that of Katie James, a young woman who was murdered in front of her small daughter in 1905, on the banks of the same twisting creek. Dead Woman Crossing is named after her, and it seems someone is drawing inspiration from the crime. Could this killer be a copycat?

But as she interviews suspects, Kimberley is met with blank faces and closed lips. In a small town, people won’t talk, and when she pursues a promising lead, her own family turn their back on her. Kimberley isn’t afraid to ask questions, but when she receives a threatening note, she realizes that, as a single mother to a young daughter, she might be putting herself dangerously in the killer’s sights…,

A gripping, atmospheric crime thriller inspired by true events, about a town on the edge of collapse and a murder that shakes the community. Dead Woman Crossing is perfect for fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan, and Jane Harper.

Decent story. Decent characters. I probably wont continue the series. Very surface. very flat. The mystery part was good.

I’m a fan. 10/10.

Great thrills without getting too dark. Fully invested in Detective King. Have my fingers crossed for a series here. Scott probably hated it, but I loved it. More, please!

Review

This is the first book I purchased on Audible that I couldn’t make it through the book. I am sure the story line would have been great, but I couldn’t get passed the narrator.

Eh...

The story was fairly predictable and not too much of a crime thriller until 3 hours in. Narrator was great and made it worth finishing.

Good story. Narrator lacking

Story kept me guessing, author created several likely suspects one of whom turned out to be the killer.
Narrator lacked the ability to differentiate character voices with the exception of the baby. Might listen to another story by this author. Hopefully narrator will be more skilled.

Great Book!

I've just discovered Jeneva Rose and I have not been disappointed so far. Love the book but at the same time I wanted a little more from it. It was great tho, will probably read again.

A little disappointed

I had high hopes for this story after reading The Perfect Marriage, but I thought this one fell a little flat. Seemed very predictable and was let down we didn’t get a resolution the nypd case since a good portion of the book focused on it.

I enjoyed this book. Read other reviews when the narrator did the babies voice definitely cringy but overall great story. Does leave you hanging a bit of cliff hanging but I realized when I finished this it’s a series so that’s probably why….overall great story

Great story!

This novel had it all, plot, development, and characters, and a storyline that built slowly, and made sense! I’ve already bought the next book in the series and can’t wait for more!

Good listen and crime book

I liked the story and was disappointed that we didn't find the killer of her NYPD case.it, However, I cringed when the narrator narrated baby Jessica's voice.
