As the world falls apart, as billions die, as society collapses, and all hope seems lost, James discovers a powerful truth: he was wrong to think himself a nobody. Summoning every ounce of grit and determination, he'll help forge a resistance that will defy humanity's near-omnipotent enemy by taking the fight from the streets of NYC to the stars themselves.

With the dawn of the Void, he'll become the most important person to have ever lived.

overall a well written book and great narration. however, a few annoying aspects distract from otherwise good book. first, I get it author you think humanity is full of a bunch of idiots and that only special people will save the world. however most people are equally intelligent and making most of your characters do incredibly dumb things except for the special few that you want to excel is just distracting. second the whole military conscription thing kind of seems pointless. It's so forced and would be against any common sense that any actual military person would do as to be laughable but then you just have the military collapsed completely shortly after. seriously author?

pretty good and pretty niyalistic

The tortured soul was a bit over done for my tastes but the story was good enough to carry it.

I liked it but….

Honestly blown away, so well done, a mature flawed main character, excellent story, great action!!!

Amazing

Excited to check out more work from both the author and the narrator. The author involves so much realism in character development and evolving the world we know so smoothly into the catastrophe. And the narrator has a broad range of voices that always indicated exactly who was talking. Looking forward to the next book.
