My name is John Cook, and my life began the day my heart stopped beating. King Oberon is betrayed by the Queens of Faerie and imprisoned in Mab’s dungeon. Give a man no way out, and eventually, no price is too high for revenge. That stands doubly true for a king. Nobody puts Obee in a corner...cell. So, the raging king forms a malevolent alliance, letting everyone know that if he can’t wear the crown.... No one will.

My name is Nate Temple, and I’m secretly a wizard. I ride a foul-mouthed unicorn, I drink with Achilles, and I’m pals with the Four Horsemen. I’ve even cow-tipped the Minotaur. I understand the theory of following the rules...I’m just not very good at the application. Because rules were meant to be broken, and St. Louis has a bit of a supernatural infestation these days. Someone should probably be keeping an eye on these things -and probably an eye on me, too. Before I blow up another building...or three.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

I go by Crowley, no last name. The Fae took that from me when they tore me from my crib and turned me into a creature of blood and shadow. My kidnappers raised me, taught me magic, and made me their Hound. For years I served them, but a cur can only be brought to heel for so long. I've broken my chains by betraying my adoptive mother, the powerful sorceress Fuamnach. Since then, her assassins have been hunting me - but I’ll cut a swathe of destruction through them if it means gaining back a piece of the humanity they stole from me. Vengeance will have to do.

Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of blood with his best friends, Lucian and Nero, the world’s first Werewolf and Warlock - an unholy trinity if there ever was one. Publisher's Summary
The postal service frowns upon shipping severed heads. But a courier will deliver anything for a tip....
My name is John Cook, and my life began the day my heart stopped beating. After 500 years, I’ve finally avenged my parents and killed the right bastard who done me wrong. Commander Godwin is dead!
Except revenge has consequences - in my case, both Heavenly and Hellish debt collectors. And these guys are extremely dedicated to their jobs, vying for employee of the month status by being the first to acquire my head. Speaking of heads, one was just delivered to me by a secret admirer. Great. Super. At least things can’t get any worse....
Wait. My best friend, Depweg the werewolf, was just kidnapped. It seems I have another secret admirer. Or is it the same person, trying super-duper hard to win my heart?
Or...maybe take my heart.
Looks like I’ve got a sleepover to plan. For one of us, it will probably be a permanent dirt nap....

Madcap story with heart, soul, and the creepies!
There is no rest for John Cook! And thank Heavens for that! Favorite characters return and you see them grow and change all while running to fight a variety of enemies, and even themselves.,
My only critique is that there seems to be a lot more use of the ef--word than the other book.
Luke Daniels is, however one of the
best narrator s. around,

Whom ever compared this series to The Dresden files is incorrect. This is atleast a category better in every way shape and form. Main character is just plain hilarious. I almost burnt my chest hair from spitting out coffee when I got to the ent part. Narrator did a superb job(as always).

John ALMOST Triggers Hell
Ok, so.. if whether you’re a mild Johniac(?) like me, or you’re like book 7 or so deep into the series, then you know that Johnathan Cook, or rather John isn’t your goody goody superhero or even hero in the same vein of Cap America or even your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. No, John is THANKFULLY like a certain amount of anti-hero’s like Venom or maybe even playboy billionaire Tony Stark. John never asked to be thrust into situations like the ones he has been thrust into, but Lilith damn it, he is & surprisingly makes the right choices. Read on if ur appetite has been whetted or your curiosity peaked.

fun entertaining listen
only small thing is the fighting was a lil too random with the blood powers. wasnt engaging for me cause it just felt too easy when the guy could green lantern anything basically only with blood. that being said i still enjoyed everything else and feel like a snob for feeling the need to say my one qualm, but ya.
