Publisher's summary

Poppy is nothing special. She was making ends meet and trying to enjoy life. But a strange necklace caught her eye at the thrift store. Now, three gorgeous men have stumbled into her life, and she's torn between being terrified and excited. That is, until they tell her she is the future queen of the Underworld.

Not only that, but she needs to bond with her hellhounds - the three heads of Cerberus - and protect the Underworld from a goddess who wants it for herself. Forced to face unnatural enemies, and too-sexy-for-their-own-good men, Poppy must choose: Keep the life she's always had, or take her rightful place as queen. If she survives.

Contains mature themes.

I couldn’t finish it.

I couldn’t continue reading the book because of two reasons.
1. The voice actresses voice sounded nasally and felt that voice would have fit better voice acting a overly nerdy girl in a cartoon series or something more comedic.

2. Yes I know it’s five hours long but the plot (30+ minutes in) went to fast for my taste and it left a bad after taste of ‘I’m not like other girls’

Wow

This book is now one of my favorites that I will listen to again! It captured my attention almost from the moment it started. Helen Scott did an amazing job on this story I can not wait to start the next book!

Did not finish. Story rating just there to post

This may be a great story but the female narrator’s voice grated on my nerves and I could not finish. I am going to buy the ebook and try it out.

where did half the story go?

Most of the reactions seemed unrealistic but I could handle that. The book skipped around a lot, skipping parts and a large portion of the final chapter seems missing. It may have been a technical thing but I removed and redownloaded it and was still the same.

Disappointing

The premise of the story had so much potential but was totally wasted on a book that’s just sex.

The character’s reaction to the news that she’s a daughter of Persephone, and all that includes, is completely unrealistic (the author has clearly never heard of The Journey of the Hero and the stages a hero/ine must go through - not that I expect great literature from romance novels, but these are basic to a believable story).

There is one character that seems to have some depth and interested me - having to do with a love lost - but it’s barely touched upon (maybe in the next book).

Performances were good - no complaints there - probably the only good thing about this book.

Overall, I’m just disappointed.

wasn't impressed

I wasn't overly impressed and didn't expect all the sex that's in every chapter. Aside from that, I thought the premise for the story was good.

Teenage daydream

Disjointed, has a great premise and potential but feels like it’s written by a directionless daydreaming teenage girl. Rework would be nice. Also the narrator l’s voice made it more immature. Would not use a credit on this

Ugh.

Story ok. But it was disappointing. Slow. I turned up the speed to get it over with.

DNF

I gave this book 4 hours and I still couldn't do it. The story has potential. but for a major ebook listener it's hard to do.

Excruciating.

Such a disappointment. I thought I'd find something a little different, but instead of inverting any tropes, this book reinforces them. Do not say your character is a strong independent woman if she is blatantly not. Very little plot, just a smutty romance - by the end of the book, nothing has happened. A contributory factor to that would be the length, it's clearly very short, more of an introduction than anything more substantial. If current themes continue, expect no attention to the actual Persephone/Underworld aspect.

Female narrator fine, male narrator sounded off.

So so good

What an excellent start to this series! Very enjoyable from the very beginning. It’s a storyline that captured me from the first chapter. Excellent action and adventure. Great performances from both narrators. This is my first book narrated by Troy, oh what a soothing voice to listen to. Well done guys.

Different take of Persephone

I like the different spin of the story of Persephone and ceberus. Although the story seemed to jump from 0 - 100 in short time.

Overall pretty good.
