Publisher's Summary

Returning early from a disastrous date night with my husband, I know something is wrong the moment the wheels crunch the gravel drive of our home. Inside, the TV is on and a half-eaten meal waits on the table. My heart stops when I find our little girl is alone in the house and our babysitter, Sasha, is missing....

Days later, when I’m arrested for Sasha’s murder and torn away from my perfect little family, I’ll wish I had told someone about the threatening note I received that morning.

I’ll hate myself for not finding out who the gift hidden inside my husband’s wardrobe was for.

I’ll scream from the rooftops that I’m innocent - but no one will listen.

I will realise I was completely wrong about everything that happened that night....

But will you believe me?

Twisted and absolutely unputdownable, Date Night exposes what goes on behind the closed doors of a happy home and the dangerous truths we ignore to protect the ones we love. Perfect reading for anyone totally gripped by The Wife Between Us, Friend Request or Gone Girl.

Wtf?!?

Complete waste of time. Awful story. I’m sorry I wasted my time. It rambled on and went no where.

Boring

NO SPOILERS! I had to replay parts over and over because I would zone out. This book was just boring. The main character is an airhead and the plot was poorly developed. The ending was dumb and I want all the time back that I wasted on this book.

Dragged on for Too Long

Interesting storyline, however, it dragged on for too long and sometimes it was pretty boring. The only reason why I kept listening was to find out who committed the crime. I liked the narrator and she made it bearable many times.

Actually a good book!

Not sure why the bad reviews, this book kept my interest all the way through. Only negative was the ending seemed to be rushed and chopped off and I was left with many questions. Narrator was great!

Disappointing.

Rambling on to… the end :/ It was constantly leading up to.. not much. The result was a let down!

Didn’t keep my interest

Truely kind of boring… felt mud wet kid thinking “just get on with it”. Hard to tell some characters apart with the narrator using such similar voices for the females

Date night review

I’ve just discovered this author…
Date night was abit slow in the start, first 20 chapter and after that the story line became very intrigued …
The ending blow me out my stock - did not expect the ending …
In general a good read …
Well done to the author 🌸

Overall a good read

A pretty good book, although I thought it was a bit convoluted. A very good, unexpected ending made it worth it.

Date night; bliss blight

between the accent and the Plot I rushed to the finish so I could get it off my tablet. Just not my cup of tea, so to speak. Others might find it interesting but not for little old me.

Excellent

This was my first book by Samantha Hayes. It was so good I downloaded the recommended one straight away called The Reunion - which was also brilliant. It's difficult to get a real twist in the tale but Samantha Hayes packs a punch you don't see coming!

Don’t bother

Characters were unbelievable and annoying-yet another pathetic female lead. The whole story was disjointed, I read to the end Incase this was some clever ploy and everything would come together but unfortunately the end was just as disappointing as the rest of the book.

Dire

I really struggled with this book. Overly descriptive it felt at some points that I was listening to a cookery book. Insipid characters with an off the wall ending that came out of nowhere.
Narrator did her best, but unfortunately for me this book was a massive disappointment.

So disappointed! Insipid narration lost the will

To live! Had to return I couldn’t bear the drone. Over described detail made for a long winded drawn out nothingness. Really enjoyed her last book. Maybe I would have been more interested and invested with another narrator but I’m not so sure ... will see what her next book is like before I give up on Miss Hayes.

A good listen

I enjoyed this book and loved the way the story kept me guessing . As ever the narrator is crucial in relating the story and I thought this narrator was very good at distinguishing between the voices male and female . My only slight irritation was how the child is voiced . Too simpering and lispy . More how people think a child speaks rather than reality . But I find this in a lot of audiobooks . Overall would recommend.

I had to keep going, till I had it finished in one day. It still leaves questions. Which I want to know. Great read.

oh my gosh, I wasn't expecting that!!

Umm, I wasn't expecting that! 😳 There was a lot going on. I was sure I knew who did it. But then it wasn't them, so I'd decide on someone else, and again nope! 🤔 I wasn't envisaging that ending!!!

Great book

Loved the twists in the end, definitely enjoyed this book, a story about marriage and a mother's love!!
On the surface, a story about how toxic suspicions can cause pain, pain from which there is no coming back from.

Too repetitive, too slow

I didn’t enjoy this book and ended up skipping to last few chapters to find out what happened- too much repetition- I kept thinking , “wait didn’t that happen a few chapters ago?”

Disappointing

With a weak storyline and shallow characters this book didn’t stand a chance with the poor narration. The reader has an annoying voice without any depth and can’t pronounce any word beginning with R so ‘weally’ hard to listen to. When she changed character the voices became very silly. I couldn’t finish the book it was like listening to a playschool presenter reading Goldilocks and the three bears...
