It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

DARLENE IS AWESOME!
What made the experience of listening to Darlene Bobich: Zombie Killer the most enjoyable?
It was a great bunch of stories!!!
What other book might you compare Darlene Bobich: Zombie Killer to and why?
Well she is a strong female character....and there are many zombie books out there, but Armand's zombies are perverts!
What about Carolyn Nicely’s performance did you like?
She was really good....I am sad she is not narrating the next book!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did laugh...and say ewww several times! lol
Any additional comments?
I am on to the next book Dying Days 1.... This world is really frightening...zombies trying to eat you is one thing...but make out with you to the extreme..that's just gross!!! I liked the Journey Darlene has been through, and she still stays strong! Cant wait to hear more!!! I enjoyed this book very much!!

Great book, mediocre narrator
A quick listen. I loved the story. The Narrator leaves little to be desired. She had many mispronounced words and made it seem like she didn't take too seriously the job of storytelling. Sad.

Wasn't for me
The story definitely had potential, but it just felt rushed. It would go from one story to the next and they just didn't really seem to connect. I had to go back a few times thinking I had missed something. The narration wasn't too bad. I'd love to give this another listen in the future if the author ever decided to rewrite this making it one well connected story.

Not for me
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I thought the story had potential. What bothered me was that it just seemed like random events being shared rather than an actual connected story. One minute the main character meets someone and something happens, then that situation ends without any kind of resolution or consequences and then it's a few weeks later and were being informed about the next event. The main character experiences some horrific things but it doesn't seem to affect her at all. I realize this is a zombie story and therefore it isn't a realistic situation but I expect any person to feel some level of distress and wariness after going through some things that Darlene did. She doesn't learn from previous experiences or change her behaviour. She doesn't struggle to overcome anything. Everything that happens to her is just accepted and seemingly forgotten as soon as it's over. Were told that she is upset but there's no evidence to that in her actions. Another reviewer said that they liked the way she didn't let things get to her, but I just felt that the writing wasn't in depth enough to give her any realistic emotion. I've read or listened to so many zombie books and what makes one stand out for me is a main character that shows their strength by overcoming obstacles and learning from bad situations. I don't want to read about someone whining about their misfortune all the time but when a character has to struggle through something it makes me care about what happens to them and want them to succeed. Also every other character just seemed to be a disposable means to an end of keeping the story going. The author seems to throw in a new character so that Darlene has someone to interact with for a while before moving on. Again were told she is friends with someone but there's no interaction to show that. When she is betrayed by ppl she has apparently become friends with were told she is upset but she cuts ties with them and moves on without any difficultly. Then that betrayal doesn't cause her to be wary of the next person she meets. I lost interest in the story because it became a predictable cycle of Darlene meeting ppl, something bad happening and ppl turning on her with no explanation of why (were given no insight into anyones motives or personality) then Darlene moves on to meet someone else only to blindly trust them. The only reason I finished the audiobook was because I hate not finishing a book I've started.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I'm listening to The Apocalypse Crusade by Peter Meredith atm
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I think the narrator's voice suited the main character.
Could you see Darlene Bobich: Zombie Killer being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I don't think I'd watch it.
Any additional comments?
I bought this audiobook because I listened to all the Mike Talbot books by Mark tufo and wanted to listen to the Dying Days series before United States of Apocalypse by Mark Tufo and Armand Rosamilia is released. I love Mark Tufo's books so I was looking forward to this next one. After listening to this audiobook I'm a little disappointed. I won't be listening to the other Dying Days audiobooks but I'll wait for United States of Apocalypse and trust that Mark Tufo will live up to my expectations.

Enjoyable enough
Fancying something a bit different I listened to this prequel offering to Armand Rosamillia's Dying Days series.
Zombie action, a strong and feisty female, a crumbling civilisation, loss, grief, strength, constant travel, close scrapes, danger, attack, death, sexually active undead, violence,
I enjoyed reading something different to my norm and I'll read more in the series in the future, as I have a few in the Audible library. I'm not too sure how far you can take the story without endless repetition of attack, repel, attack, repel, repeat. I would have liked some explanation for the present state of affairs.
More to like than not and it did what it was supposed to - it entertained and took me away to another world for a few hours, in the company of a main character who I was rooting for.

I really enjoyed Darlene’s story here. It doesn’t hold back and I got on board with who she was pretty quickly. This book doesn’t hold back and throws you in at the deep end.
I’m excited to read/listen to the rest of the stories in this series now.
