Publisher's summary

United we stand, divided we fall.

Having escaped execution by the SOG, Gunnery Sergeant Mathison and his marines are hunted by an elite Governance task force and the entity that escaped from SOG Special Research Base 402-Alpha. If they don’t warn the Republic in time, humanity is doomed.

But the marines need more information about the entity hunting them, information the SOG doesn’t want them to have, and it’s a race against time as their hunters close in. The hunters can afford many mistakes, but the marines can’t make a single one.

As the hunters close in on their prey, worlds will burn, and ancients will awaken to crawl out of the shadows. The ancients, the Vanhat, are returning, and mankind must unite or perish.

Unfortunately, the SOG doesn’t want to unite....

Fast paced sci-fi adventure.

Better then the first. Characters are fun and have some depth. Comes to a stopping point but put open for the next book. Looking forward to the audio release of books three and four.

Initially Surprised, Now Hooked

Book 1 started a little slow and fragmented, but midway thru Book 1 and thru Book 2 it has been nonstop action with a great story and character development.

Also, the narrator is excellent. When you have a standard based on Bray, Boyer, Kafer & Daniel’s, you tend to be critical of narrators. Frisbee is phenomenal in this series. Really brings the characters and situations to life.

Would definitely recommend.

Semper fi marines

As a Marine I may be a little biased but I loved that the author stayed pretty authentic to what Marines are like. On an actual story note things are finally starting to get really interesting and the plot thickens

The series just gets better.

Everything keeps getting better. You can really tell the author has experience as a Marine. This knowledge makes the story so much better. The second book is even better than the first. Can not wait for the next. The narrator has spent a lot of extra time adding details that many would not. This pulls you into the story.

Great Second Book

When Gunnery Sergeant Mathison and his last surviving Marines encounter Lojtnant Skadi and her Aesir team, there's a great deal of distrust on both sides. One of the strengths of the story is how the Marines and Aesir gradually break down the barriers of distrust as they learn more about each other's cultural backgrounds and combat capabilities. By the end of this book the working relationship between them has advanced from acceptance to appreciation to trust--just in time for them to take on an enemy they're still trying to comprehend but which appears to be unconquerable. I'm already well into the third book in this series!
