They say it's about the journey, not the destination

Charlene "Charlie" Moreau is back in St. Francisville, Louisiana, to work on a movie. One night, she stumbles across the body of a Civil War reenactor, the second murdered in two days. Charlie is shocked to learn that her father a guide on the Journey, a historic paddle wheeler that's sponsoring the reenactment is a suspect.

Meanwhile, Ethan Delaney, new to the FBI's Krewe of Hunters, is brought in on the case. He and Charlie have a history of their own, dating back to when he rescued her from a graveyard led there by a Confederate ghost!

Charlie arranges a Mississippi River cruise so she and Ethan can get close to the reenactors, find out who knows what, who has a motive. They discover a lot more as they resume the relationship that ended ten years ago but might die, along with them, on the Journey.

The sample on Audible did nothing to excite me to buy this audio book but I knew I had to get through it so I could move on in the series. I LOVE the Krewe series. Well, I was more than delighted I went for it. Great story!!! Great history intertwined!!! And the narrator really did do a great job. I was concerned at first by the sample he wasn't going to be able to offer different voices for the variety of characters, especially the females. He did an excellent job.
Heather Graham did not fail to deliver here another wonderful mystery/whodunit with characters who come to life in the telling of such a great story. She not only brings to life the characters but also the landscape all around. I always want to visit where she has so wittingly and wonderfully brought her story to life. Maybe one day I will be able to do just that!
I look forward to each of the next in the series!!!

Well Worth the listen!!!

A little slow but I found enjoyment from the middle to the end. The ending felt a bit rushed, maybe it should have been 15 minutes longer or have a prologue chapter. I would have liked to hear about Jimmy, did Charlie join the Krewe or continued acting? Nitpicking yes, but it was something I wanted to hear. What I did like were the detailed conversations with the ghosts. Some books the ghosts can only mutter two/three words at a time. This book some of the ghosts were chatty, something I liked. Luke Daniel's voice acting was great, I enjoyed his ghosts voices, and his female voices sounded distinct. Overall a 4.25 out 5, a better ending would have pushed this story to 4.5.

Interested and enjoyable
