Fun but too fast

I enjoyed this audio book a lot. the narrator had fun with the characters and it translated to me having fun listening to it. I think the story was interesting and I enjoyed it also. but there are some time and plot jumps that were jarring. I wish there was more explanation to some things. the writing is good but the book is rushed. overall I enjoyed it and was really pleased with the audio.

Absolutely Unputdownable

This absolutely kept me perched upon the edge of my seat!! The twisty plot just kept throwing surprises out in every which way! What an entertaining and captivating tale! Picture the little mermaid as a siren and sprinkle in other fairytale characters and you embark upon quite an adventure!! This is at times frightening! Serena became so very likable and that wasn't something that I was at all prepared for. I'm feeling so very sad for the deaths at the end!! I so wanted more from those characters! This ends with a cliffhanger and while it's a mild one, I'm still going to be anxiously awaiting the next book. I did notice that the characters feelings seemed to ebb and flow and when I thought I knew how they were feeling, my ideas would be shattered and tossed to the wind. But with mythical creatures huge emotions and mood swings go hand in hand. So it made total sense to me. This is the first that I've read from Ms. Marshall and most certainly won't be the last!!

Great narration of an alright story

Jillian Yetter is a phenomenal narrator. I love her voice and she gave life to many characters who were easy to differentiate while still remaining realistic. Though her voice was described as shrill the only unpleasant one to listen to was Camille... Aside from a few Peter vs Pee-tar moments, her performance was awesome.

The story however is just alright. The audio performance was the only reason I continued to the end. Would probably have dnr’d if I was strictly reading it. It’s a vague conglomerate of too many fairytales that didn’t really enhance the story to really be a good book. The overall MC’s story however was good enough to keep me listening.

I received this audiobook for free in return for an honest review.

Dark Retelling

This was a decent dark fairytale retelling, although there were a lot of inconsistencies and plot holes that should have been fleshed out. But the story was still good. The narrator did a fabulous job.

A narration worth listening to a story to get sucked into

So I was given a free code for the audiobook with no expectation of a review so all of the thoughts and opinions are my own of a narrator Jillian Yetter was very nice to give me a code because she had a few extra.

I did not know what to expect when going into this novel. And that’s probably the best way to go about doing that. This is written in the third person but each chapter is from a different characters perspective. I think overall there are about five different perspectives in this novel. Personally , sometimes that can feel like a lot of different perspectives in one novel and at the beginning I did think five perspectives was a little much, but it all makes sense in the end. Why each individual perspective needs to be in this book I like how the author weaves together fairytales with a new twist to them.

This is the first time I’ve ever listened to Jillian Yetter and I must say she has become a auto buy for me. She had a well rounded set. A voice says each individual character got their own voice, and they were very easy to differentiate. The overall production of this audiobook was very well done. The sound itself was very well rounded. There were no weird glitches or noises. Everything was edited together very well.

Intriguing Series Starter!

Readers will be introduced to the captivating world of Adrella and Andover in this solid series starter by J.J. Marshall. Serena has been promised to the prince of Andover by her sister, Queen Amaris, in order to ostensibly broker peace between their watery kingdom and the Andoverian land. The queen has ulterior motives, however, and it’s up to Serena to begin the sirens’ violent takeover, but as soon as she is welcomed in Andover, she is enchanted by Prince Aaron and other earthly delights.

A fun retelling of fairy tale classics such as The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan, Dark Tides is fascinating and entertaining!

What a great listen narrator Jillian Yetter delivers unique voices for many different characters. It was easy to differentiate all the characters involved in any scene.
