Luke and Amy arrive at the Messner ranch to discover not everything has gone according to plan. Reunited with his family, and bringing new friends into the fold, Luke works hard to forget the horrors of their journey and make a fresh start with Amy. But others have plans as well, and Luke discovers there is no real safety in this new world. When the lights go out, the rats come out to play.

The story is filled with "slap my own back" accolades about how much he is a natural born killer at the ripe young age of 16. The self promotion of how deadly he is has even gained him the respect of a full bird Colonel, who gave him a Humvee as a token of his high esteem for killing 16 bad guys single handed with a knife, rock, and grenades.
I'm no psychologist, but this author has found his forum to indulge his fantasy as being a teenage Rambo. Probably because he doesn't possess these SOG skills except while playing a video game.
Why would trained military personnel, including his father, seek advise on strategy and tactics from a teenager who is barely of legal age to drive? Anyway, I digress.
The narrator delivers an excellent performance. One salvation to this book.
...and can someone tell me if "curiouser" is even a word? I tried to look it up, but maybe my dictionary app needs to be updated.
