Publisher's Summary

Malcolm of Dunroch is a newly chosen Master, a novice with extraordinary and dangerous powers. But he has already broken his vows, and a young woman's death is on his hands. Malcolm is determined to fight his darkest desires, denying himself all pleasure until fate sends him another Innocent, the beautiful book-seller Claire Camden.

Since her mother's murder, Claire has done everything possible to make a safe, secure life for herself in a city where danger lurks on every street corner, especially in the dark of night. But nothing can prepare her for the powerful and sexually magnetic medieval warrior who sweeps her back into his time: a treacherous, frightening world where the hunters and the hunted are one and the same. Claire needs Malcolm to survive, yet she must somehow keep the dangerously seductive Master at arm's length. For Malcolm's soul is at stake, and fulfilling his desires could prove fatal.

Narrator nasty

The narrator reads likes she's on sedatives and her brogue is particularly odd - since when did Scots speak with a Cockney mixed with some sort of weird Philadelphia accent?

Would love to hear another narrator do this one!

The book is fine. It is the narrator that is terrible. I will not buy another audible book that is narrated by Marguerite Jennings. All of the characters sound the same. Some are just worse than others. Usually, I can't put a book down. But this one is a chore. Ms Joyce's work deserves better.

sex is great - but the rest stinks!

overall, the sex is great but the problem is that you have to listen to the whole thing to get any. horrible book! dont bother because there is not enough sex to make up for a lousy story and the main female character is an idiot!

Read the book instead....

Please, don't judge this series by this audiobook... I got hooked on this series (in paperback form) about a year ago and let me tell ya, this audiobook was like nails on a chalkboard for me. The narrator talks soooo sloooowwwwly that it actually caused me to speed it up to
1 1/2X...not that it made it much better.
I love this series... I own them all and have reread them all couple of times so I know it it not the author's fault~ I did notice that the rest of the series has a different narrator so maybe those are better.
Honestly, I finally just shut this audiobook off and chose another one to listen to. I'm sooo glad I got this on the Book 1 of a series sale and only paid $5 bucks or I would have been so bummed!!
I soooo encourage everyone to always listen to the sample before purchasing audiobooks... I didn't this time and soooo regret it!

A Real Let-Down

I've read many of her books and really enjoyed them. However, this was not one of them. The plot was confusing and the characters difficult to "get to know." I usually listen to my audiobooks within a day or two, I've been trying to get through this story for almost two weeks and have given up. A real disappointment.

Don't waste your points on this one

Between the bad narration and ridiculous plotline I was seriously displeased I didn't read the reviews on this first. What a waste of my time!

Dark Seduction

I like the story line but I can't stand the sex talk. It's to graphic, it's like porn.

Aaaawwwffffuuuullll!

There may or may not have been a good story here, I don't know because the narrator was so freakin' horrible, that I gave up after an hour or so. If I had to listen to that piss-poor excuse for a male Scottish accent say the word "lass" for much longer I would have hurt someone, or chucked my iPOD. Neither option being viable, I deleted it.

I enjoyed it all

I enjoyed this book and will listen to it again at a later date. The story was not confusing to me, the characters engaged my interest and I liked the story. By the end it even answered a few of points I was wondering if they were going to go unanswered. I cant say what becuase that would spoil some of the twists for some! I enjoyed it and if you like time travel novels, think most will like this one.

Light and Easy

The story is a good one, the characters appealed to me. The narrator, however, simply missed the mark. Like most romances, the emotion and/or sexual scenes can be either intense or corny, depending on how they are portrayed in your mind. When you have a narrator, you are kind of stuck with what you hear, and in most cases, when this narrator read intense emotion, it came off as fairly ridiculous, sort of like a farce of a soap opera, overly dramatic to the point that I had to laugh. Consequently, I had to work around the narrator to enjoy the book, but in the end, the story was worth it. Still, I hate to throw out the baby with the bathwater, so I only subtracted one star for the narration.
