Publisher's Summary

Rafael De La Cruz has spent centuries hunting vampires with his brothers. With each passing year, his capacity to feel emotions has grown weaker and weaker, until finally there's barely a memory of one left - only sheer willpower keeps him from turning into the very abomination he hunts. But it'll take more than will to keep him away from the woman who is meant to be his and his alone.

For five years, rancher Colby Jansen has been the sole protector of her younger half-siblings, and with fierce determination and work she has kept her family together and the ranch operational. Now, the De La Cruz brothers are threatening that stability. They claim that her siblings belong with their father's family, not with her. Colby vows to fight them - especially the cold and arrogant Rafael De La Cruz. But Rafael is after more than her family; he wants Colby, and will not let anything stand between them. After ages of loneliness, the raw desire to possess her overwhelms his very soul, driving him to claim her as his lifemate.

loved this book

I must say this was a wonderful surprise. I loved the suspense in this book I couldn't put it down I found myself at my desk at work not being able to stop this book from playing while working it made my day go very fast indeed, If you enjoy fantasy and romance with a twist you will enjoy this book, the twist of vampires was fun and it kept this book very interesting although it was nice to have a good love story, I would not recommend this book if you don't like vampire books because this is one yet the love story is really good I think I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Love this series, had a hard time with this book

I love this series, but had a hard time with this book. Personally he was to alpha for my taste in the sense that he didn't give her many options and took her choice away from her.

Hero is a jerk. hard to enjoy the romance w/ him

He was way too controlling, dishonesty and inconsiderate and her inability to resist him made me want to strangle her. Interesting developments in the big picture/ ongoing story so I'm glad I didn't give up like I wanted to do numerous times

Distracting narration

This is my first time reading a novel involving Carpathians. I probably would have enjoyed the story much more if it had been read by a different narrator. Mr Ferrones's tendency to over-emote & nearly run out of breath with each sentence was very distracting.
The story itself kept me listening. I nearly gave up because of the narration but decided to keep on because I did want to know more about Carpathians as well as what happens to Colby & her sibs.

Richard Ferrone is the least able voice actor ever

Phile Gigante would have done a far better job of acting, character changes, and pronouncing Spanish or Eastern European words. Damn shame too, it's a good story and essential to following new characters and inner- locking future stories in the Dark Series sagas.

Incredible

I consider myself an expert when it comes to these types of books, but I have found something new and enticing. I devour books....4-6 books per week. I was going weary with reading the same thing over and over. This series sounds incredible and I can hardly wait to gett through them.
The narrator is great. I often perfer female readers because most books give the female perspective, but this book does a great job of giving both perspectives and I find that I like knowing what the hero is going through.
This book is deeply exotic, but not always due to the sex scenes. It is full of adventure, excitement, romance and fierce domination. If you like that sort of thing....smile....you will love this book.

Creepy, just not in a good way.

The narrator of this title made listening to this book truly unbearable for me. I strongly suggust listening to the sample before buying. I've enjoyed many Feehan books in the past, but this rendition was awful.

Awkward on so many levels

It turned out to be a story that just isn't my style. On top of that, despite the great efforts of the narrator, I really don't think he should do these sorts of stories -it just doesn't suit somehow. Additionally, the male lead eventually got on my nerves. So much that I honestly couldn't continue anymore (even after skipping chunks of the chapter). This totally wasn't romantic in my opinion -at all. 😣

Can we get past the whining

Colby or whatever her name was OMG took away from the book with her excessive whining. One part of the story after all the supernatural abilities that was shown to her, alongside with her own abilities halfway through the book she kept insisting it wasn't real. The narration was okay most audio books is the narrator that brings the story to life, I just didn't get it in this book. Honestly, I don't know why I'll even listen to this story. He deserves better...
