Entertaining

Good read. not too hard to figure out though. Entertaining nonetheless. I will try the next in the series.

Unfair on listener and story writer.

The recording volume was insufficient as the narrators voice goes from normal to indistinct.. The inflections in the narrators voice distract from story and listening becomes a chore instead of a relaxing pleasure. It is unfair on the listener and author. I have reached chapter three but only by going back and listening to chapters again. I am at present considering asking for a refund and I have yet two more books narrated by the same person.

Sound too low

Have gone through the Durrant “Death” series and loved them, was excited about this new series from her, but terribly disappointed on the low sound level, I am quite an intense audible customer and it’s the first time this has happened

Brilliant 5 star audio book

I have read some of Helen's books and loved them so thought I had better start at the beginning of this series.

The book is a very well written story which kept me hooked all the way through, even though I did guess who the murderer was about half way through, I just didn't know who else would die and whether they would get away with it or not.

The narration was also very good and it was easy to distinguish between characters as well as their voices being consistent all the way through

Boarding

I love a good crime book but this didn't grip me at all. Not memorable and not worth investigating in the series

Enjoyable introduction to a new series

I enjoyed this book, and the narrator, once I got used to his somewhat heavy voice. The lead character sometimes comes across as rather gloomy. But then he has his reasons.

Intricate

I found it difficult to get the characters sorted out in my mind initially, however once there the intrigue took off. enjoyed the story very much.
I did find the narrator spoke very quietly on times and i had to rerun the section.

Very Good

Again great storyline, wish I had listened to this one before the other one, only one more to go and I will have the full story, and I'm sure I will enjoy just as much👍☺

Disappointed

I did listen to all of this book but found the narrator mumbled a lot and there was little differentiation between characters. it would be better I think as a read thriller.

Good story

This book was spoilt a little for me because of the wild fluctuations in volume, I don't know if it was the reader or the mechanics but despite that an enjoyable book with a decent story line. Nice easy listening.

Story ok but narrator not so much

Although this was quite a good story leaning toward gruesome as Durant's murder mysteries tend to be, the narrator's way of reading it distracted me throughout and I've since read the others myself. He seems to add too much emphasis or inflection where it is unwarranted.

Finally on Audible

Having a friend who reads these books months before they become available I've been eagerly awaiting this new Graco series. This was a good start so can't wait to get catching up. I hope that unlike the Calladine & Bayliss series, also by Helen H Durrant which I loved, all the books become available on Audible.
