What if Elizabeth Bennet met Mr. Darcy before the Meryton Assembly? What if she found him in a ditch?

When a morning walk brings Elizabeth upon a proud, injured gentleman who can’t stand, won’t ask for help, and refuses to admit he’s fallen off his horse, she does what any sensible woman would do. She catches the horse, sends for a carriage, and teases him about it mercilessly.

In this Pride and Prejudice variation, there is no “tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me.” There is only a gentleman in a ditch, a woman who won’t leave him in it, and a connection that begins with a twisted ankle and ends with a turned heart.

Short story

It was a short story. Elizabeth, out for a walk, finds mr Darcy in a ditch. They have never met and he is injured. She helps him to be rescued. Great jaff.
