Publisher's summary

Winter has come, but Dar won’t be able to rest just yet. An emissary of The White comes through Hearthway headed toward Bellhaven to investigate rumors of their treatment toward the ancient races.

While entirely true, Dar has already taken care of those responsible and follows Karn into Bellhaven to observe and further his own goals.

For when the little dao tree absorbed the Mo in the form of a colossal spider, it changed and sprung up new potential within him. Dar wants to see if the devil problem in Bellhaven can’t lead him to another Mo and more power.

Yet the trip to Bellhaven yielded more information than he expected. The winter was just the first of their problems.

The First Immortal, Book 3

Introduction:
Greetings, fellow travelers of tales and seekers of sagas. From the icy expanse of HowlStrom, where the winds whisper ancient stories and the frost carries the magic of ages, I, Kiba Snowpaw, the Alpha Ice Wolf Mage, present to you my reflections on "Dao Disciple," the third entrancing volume in the "First Immortal" series.
As the snow blankets my homeland, so too does the allure of this tale envelop its readers, drawing them into a world where magic, power, and destiny intertwine.

Basic Plot Summary:
Winter's embrace is upon the world, but for Dar, the chill is but a backdrop to the challenges ahead. An emissary's arrival, the mysteries of Bellhaven, and the tantalizing potential of the dao tree set the stage for a journey of discovery, power, and intrigue.

Analysis/Evaluation:
Sentar's narrative is a masterful blend of traditional fantasy elements with innovative magical concepts. The dao tree's evolution, the interplay of ancient races, and the political undercurrents create a rich tapestry that resonates with the timeless tales of HowlStrom.

Characters:
Dar, our protagonist, is a beacon of growth, both in power and character. His interactions, decisions, and the weight of responsibility he bears are reminiscent of the leaders of HowlStrom's ancient packs. The supporting cast, each with their unique strengths, challenges, and desires, adds depth and dimension to the narrative.

Structure:
The pacing is impeccable. Like a well-composed symphony, moments of calm introspection are seamlessly interwoven with heart-pounding action, ensuring the reader remains engaged throughout.

Impact:
"Dao Disciple" is not just a story; it's an experience. It evokes a range of emotions, from the thrill of battle to the introspection of meditation, mirroring the duality of HowlStrom's fierce blizzards and serene snowfalls.

Hook and Thesis:
The allure of power, the challenges of leadership, and the quest for knowledge are universal themes that resonate across worlds, be it the fiery landscapes of Bellhaven or the icy terrains of HowlStrom.

Praise and Critique:
Sentar's world-building is commendable, and his character development is intricate. However, while the harem elements are tastefully done, a deeper exploration of individual relationships would add further depth.

Evaluation:
This tome is a testament to Sentar's storytelling prowess. It's a journey of magic, power, and personal growth that leaves its mark on the reader's soul.

Comparison:
While "Dao Disciple" stands tall in its own right, its blend of traditional and innovative elements reminds me of the legendary tales passed down through generations in HowlStrom.

Conclusion:
In the vast library of my experiences, "Dao Disciple" shines bright, a beacon of storytelling excellence. As the winds of HowlStrom carry tales of old and new, this saga will undoubtedly be sung by the bards for eons to come.

May your journeys be filled with magic, and may the tales of HowlStrom guide your path.

a much better read

Preferd this above the first 2 books. The MC didn't make any overly stupid choices which shows growth. Him being overly protective could be something he works on in the future.
I really do hope there's a lot more to the series. His ability growth, personal growth, the world itself. There's a lot of ways to expand on the story. The performance was okay, not the best I've heard but it was good nevertheless.

Next spring

I hope the next book doesn't actually come out next spring, as the book ended as if that's where the next book sounds like it's going to pick up at.
All and all great book! love the character(s) growth and hurtles.

Great story but

I feel like there are many narrators that do a much better job than Alex Parone/Lewis Alexander. I feel like dungeons, SSV, and Dao audios all suffered a loss at this choice. Jack Douglas, Evan Jordan, Christopher Boucher, and Jonathan Waters would have all worked to make it perfect. Lewis Alexander is OK, but is terrible at the flirting parts and can't sell a young mc very well. All of the passionate parts lose interest. Please consider at least diversifying the narrators for new serieses

Better than the first 2.

I reviewed the first two book as well. All those issues have been taken care of for the most part. All except two… but they are more of a personal preferences.

The Blair character.. author made them into something the MC couldn’t easily get rid of. Along with endearing them to the MC and attempting to ingratiate them to the readers.
Personal I beloved the character to be not with it since she was such a loose woman or at least that’s what was portrayed in the beginning.. basically in my head she seemed like a sex worker which is a turn off. However, it is just one point of the entire book.

There are a few points that seem a little iffy or when the MC completely forgot that he could use specific dao like iron or granite. In the latter half he doesn’t even seem to look for or even attempt rocket spears like in the early section of the book.

Overall the series seems to be getting better.
I will read the next book.

Oh Dar… Dar Dar Dar…

Look, if I’m being honest I love the story.. I love the world and characters… it’s just as the books continue I like Dar less and less… it just keeps getting harder and harder to believe these beautiful and powerful women would want anything to do with him lol..
