Story
I’m trying to rebuild my life, to stay standing. I’m concentrating on myself, on my career. I’m ready to tear everything apart to try and keep it all together. To hate without feeling guilty for it, because hating others is the only way I know how to keep myself - the person I am - going. I was strong. I was untouchable. Actually, I was deluded. I didn’t consider her: the only woman I really want to hate, but who gives me hope. A woman who turns your world upside-down, who entwines herself into your life even if she can only stay until tomorrow.

Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours. A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land. An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny. We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together. Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here. Story
Top three reasons why sleeping with the enemy is a bad idea.... 1. She's my fiercest rival. 2. She's also my fiery ex. 3. We're going up against each other in a stiff competition to win the hottest new client on the market. And yet, I'd like to be up against the wall in a stiff competition to get her to call out my name. Time to double down on my resistance to her tough-as-nails, take-no-prisoners, sexy-as-sin attitude. The same attitude I find irresistible. That's a big problem.

It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten - my boyfriend is getting married. Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily-ever-after. On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married - his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation. There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland. Nothing and no one could convince me.

When I was a kid, my dad was the gardener for the richest man in town. His daughter, Lily Barnes, told me she could never like a guy like me. Then she kissed me and told me it would never happen again. When it happened again, she told me she could never love me because she was going to leave this place, and I would never leave my dad. We were never quite friends, not exactly enemies, and we could never quite stop secretly kissing each other. She never said goodbye before running off to try to make it as an actress. That was her dream, and I wanted her to chase it.

Sometimes the most novel approach to love comes when we least expect it.... A lot can happen at a book convention, but for a conservative romance author like me, things remained fairly predictable. Until the unofficial king of smut crashed into my life, leaving sparks - and our luggage flying around us. I had never heard of the illustrious Gage Blackstone, but after two seconds in his presence, my mind was conjuring up scenes that wouldn’t make it into my sweet stories. He was worldly, gorgeous and his eyes promised naughty things to come. Things I never knew I wanted.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

Gabriel Carter is the biggest, cockiest asshole I've ever met. He's a six-foot-three ex-baseball player with sexy muscles and smoldering looks that turn my body into a traitorous mess. Did I mention he's also the reason business at my family's hotel is quickly going down the drain? I shouldn't want him, but try explaining that to my body. Especially after he proposes a business deal to me that will be mutually rewarding - both financially and sexually. Sleep with the enemy? Nah, I'll just marry the bastard instead.

Publisher's Summary
Every body can be a dancer's body!
All her life, Fiona has dreamed of becoming a dancer, but she was always told dancing was not for “fat girls” like her. Now, at age 35, Fiona is again confronted with her weight issues when the HR department kindly encourages her and a coworker, Stu, to attend a support group for people with “health” issues.
When quilting is suggested as a hobby to help with their totally opposite eating disorders (Fiona loves everything related to calories, Stu tries to avoid any), Stu insanely suggests they enter a local version of Dancing with the Stars instead....
What follows is a fantastic journey with a lot of ups and downs, sore feet, self-doubt, sweat, and tears mixed in with ghosts from the past.
Dancing Queen is a warmhearted and humorous story about self-doubt, dancing, friendship, and the courage to follow your dreams no matter what size you are.
If you love fast-paced, feel-good stories with snappy dialogue, lots of humor, and heart, this is the audiobook for you.

Sweet, Encouraging Story
Dancing Queen was an absolutely incredible listen!
I found the story was never slow and always felt fresh. It was never rushed either. I thought the overall idea for the story was well thought out, and I loved the minor story lines. All the minor story lines were well thought out and complete.
The characters were so relatable, and the cast was so diverse, I think everyone could see themselves as one of the characters. The family dynamics felt so real. I think that is what I enjoyed most about this story. It didn't feel cheesy, but it felt like this could be someone's real life story, and not some fictional overally happy ending book.
I saw the outcome of the dance competion coming, however, I did not see what followed after the dance competion coming. I thought it was a fabulous way to finish off this wonderful novel.
I will easily listen to something else by Charlotte Roth in the future. She is such an incredible story teller. I loved that while her work felt like a real story, it wasn't sad like so many, but it had such an encouraging and uplifitng message.
Stefanie Kay did a great job with the narration. I was able to tell who was talking, just based on the voices she performed. She also portrayed the emotions of the events and characters well.
I received a copy of this audibook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.
P.S. If you like Dancing with the Stars that is an added bonus.

Fantastic Story!! 💜💜💜
I absolutely loved this book!
Struggling with obesity my whole life, this story really touched my heart. It deals with not only obesity but also other issues including dysfunctional family & the problems that follow.
It also tells about hopes & dreams and makes you believe that anything is possible.
The narration was really good, but a little slow, I adjusted speed according at it was perfect. I highly recommend this book!

This is a great story about triumph. This is an uplifting and inspiring story about overcoming your fears and dealing with body shaming, bullying and lack of support. This also includes learning to love who you are, embracing your life and your future. Dealing with family good and bad but let’s not forget all of the fun! I really enjoyed this story. Loved this story!
This is the first book I have read or listened to that hasn't been romance in a very long time. I'm so happy I found it. The characters are way more than relatable. This story was funny, touching and so realistic I listened straight through. We all need a book that makes us feel better for not being perfect, or having our dreams hidden in a closet because someone said we weren't good enough or have the right appearance. I can recommend this enough. I have read and listened to around 1000 books and this has been added to my top 20 easily.

Awesome Good Feeling Story
I received this audiobook free, as an Audiobook Obsession Reviewer, for an honest review. I thought this was a wonderful story. The author delved into the impact a child's upbringing can have on the issues a person takes into their adult life. Fiona and Stu's overcoming their eating obsessions and finding a place in their adult lives for healing through dance was very heartfelt. The author hit on all the emotions from laughing to crying. I really enjoyed this story the author gave us and the narrator did an excellent job with the charcters, their personalities and the sensitivity of this story.

Really good
This book takes a hard but fun look at weight and how one becomes overweight and how one starts to change their life for the better. Fiona has secrets from her past that she hides away and this cause her to over eat to hide her pain. However, her company ask that she joins a group to stop stress. By doing this she realizes her secrets are hindering her and she sees that no one is too big for their dreams.
This is a very moving story. It’s not has light as I thought it would be but it is still a great book.

Dancing Queen
Fiona is a true hero, she has such inner strength and just rolls with life. Of course that is what she was pushed to think she had to do her entire life. This story is inspiring and heart warming. I love how little secrets can make huge impacts on how others see us. Fiona's sister was so cruel to her until she realized what made her the way she was. The story is so eyeopening. It makes you think and wonder what we all get too busy to look at and realize what is going on around us. Thanks audiobook obsession for the recommendation.

I loved this book and I hated too. Let me explain. I loved it because it showed an accurate portrayal of what it's like to be a "fat girl". It is so good to see our stories being told and told truthfully. I hated this story for the same reason. It was told so truthful and it was har to listen to but fun at the same time! I really think everyone should read or listen to this book!.

Amazing layered story
I honestly don’t know where to start. I was blown away by Charlotte Roth’s Dancing Queen. Stephanie Kay did a fabulous job of bringing the book alive with her on point narration. I loved that Fiona and Stu were such believable engaging characters as were the secondary characters. The story made me laugh and at times cry with all its twists and turns. And the ending... just wow. I was fortunate to receive this audio via Audiobook Obsession.

awesome storyline!
I absolutely loved this book!! It brought back memories for me of always being a bigger girl and being told I could not do certain things. Even now as an adult and still being bigger I am having a hard time believing in myself. this book has made me realize I should follow my dreams and not let being a bigger girls stop me!!

A sweet and light story, lovely listen.
I enjoyed Stefanie Kay's narration of this book, though the way she pronounced a couple of the words alternated between grating on my ears and making me chuckle.
This is a really sweet and enjoyable story. The characters are great and very well rounded. You can see that the way both Fiona and Stu think is due to their upbringing. And I'm so glad they found each other. The book didn't end up where I thought it would and I didn't guess the big twist (I went down a completely different pathway, lol) but I really enjoyed it. It's lift and sweet and a lovely listen.
