I can't wait!

I love this series, the characters really start to grow on you. The writing and narration is so vivid that I can imagine the story as it progresses. I can't wait for the next installment.

Lazy story telling

The original was brilliant. I don’t know if the author was rushed or just doesn’t care about the story anymore, but the writing and storytelling suggest both.

I'm in Love With Gretch Wolgast

This is, in my opinion, another winner from Alexander C. Kane and Kristen Sieh. In this book we get to watch Gretch grow up, we meet her father, and begin to understand her a lot more. There are old friends and new opponents, and hints of mysteries to come. It is a totally satisfying book. Since I knew I wouldn't be able to stop I made sure to start it early enough in the day so that I could listen to it all at one time. (Okay, I stayed up 2 hours past my bedtime. Sue me.)

I totally love how Kristen Sieh makes each person's voice unique, so you always know who is speaking. Her acting is superb and brings you right into the story. It's great to listen to a book with no mispronunciations, grammatical errors or production noises that take away from your enjoyment of the story.

I love a good mystery, and this is a well-plotted out murder mystery. There are enough clues that you can figure it out if you want to. (I figured it out, but it did not take away from my enjoyment of the story.) To me only a part of the enjoyment of the story is "who done it," while the much more important part is the character development, dialogue, and all around fun of being in a new place with interesting characters. It is also important to me that there are no "cheats" by the author. The author should not leave clues pointing to one person and then switch it around to say, "Ha, ha, it was always this other person all along, even though there were absolutely no clues pointing to them."

All-in-all, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story and a wonderful narrator.

kind of a mess

I'm still liking Gretch, but most of the story did not hang together very well. The performance was excellent. I hope the next installment is more coherent.

Among my issues: Law enforcement professionals being inexplicably unprofessional and nasty to other agency representatives; a messy story that depends completely on the villain expositing at way, way excessive length to basically retell the whoooole story to explain his diabolical plot; a resolution achieved only because some characters you forgot about ta-da! crash in to save the day or at least to distract the villain for a hi-yah! strike by the hero to save the day; a wrap-up that brings in irrelevant side characters -- from a totally different story, mind you -- over dinner. Much of the yacht action felt like watching the end of the movie "Clue," with all the characters rushing from room to room. Sadly, the psychokinesis just never gets interesting, and how is THAT even possible?

Should have been good but was not.

Disappointed

I feel like their should be a warning about an author who decides to make their main character bisexual as a surprise. So sad I wasted a credit on this book.

Bravo!

Once again Kane has knocked it right out of the park! Fun from one end to the next, can't get enough of his work! I can't wait for the next one!

I need more Gretch!

My only complaint is that it was over too soon! (Probably my fault for listening at a higher speed) I love Gretch’s point of view and attitude, and I’m really picky about first person narratives. Kane’s writing style is among one of my all time favorites, right up their with Christopher Moore and Jasper Fforde.

All over the place

I really enjoyed the first book so I was excited to pick up this second title but I was very disappointed. It was a struggle to finish this story, it was all over the place and hard to keep track of who was who and what was going on. Characters seemed to have changed traits from the first book and have completely new demeanors and sexualities. The plot was ridiculous (even for this genre) and parts of the story dragged. The conclusion of the story relies on the villain explaining their nefarious plot and half of the story for you to "get it". Gretch's fight with her boss and her obliviousness about it was also just *cringe*. I'm not sure what happened from book one to book two that the story went so bad but I did not enjoy this one at all. I made it all the way through and then asked for a refund because I felt this was a waste of a credit. If there is a third book, I'm not sure that I'll try it.

Another great story

Can't wait for number three! I love this author's style of writing and the narrator is perfect. I am so glad I've found this series. I hope I can call it a series and there will be more of the adventures of Gretch Walgast and Frank Prader!

I love Gretsch!

I really do. Possibly the most relatable character I have read in a long time, and never mind what that says about me. I can't wait to listen to her and Prater in action again.

Also, great cliffhanger (no spoilers!)

Excellent "Who dunnit" with superheroes & villains

Enjoyable listen with great narrator, well done to represent the genre where there are might big shoes to fill.
But author Alexander C. Kane is up for the task with clever reveals and his own unique writing style.
Recommended whole heartedly!
