Exquisite

Loved Judy and her words. She makes you feel like writing letters again. The narrator was fabulous ♡

Fantastic!

My only complaint about this book is that it wasn't 5 times longer! Beautiful performance, the narrator added such character to the story, and I now feel like a good friend of Judy's. Such a "deep sigh" book.

Cute. Good vocabulary words. Great narration.

This is a cute little book. Julia Whelan is the best narrator, so no matter the content, I choose books she narrates. The story is sweet - and I most enjoyed the expansive vocabulary. Really. It inspires me to read more of the classics as the protagonist did.

Very Happy Story

I remember reading this about 40 years ago and was thrilled to find it in Audibles.

This story is mainly letters. An orphan girl is given a scholarship to attend college. The only requirement is that she write to Mr. John Smith once a month so he can judge her learning.

It is a marvelous story that is uplifting to hear as this young hard working young lady learns and discovers a world that would never been available to her if things had gone differently.

There is a smidgen of romance, but nothing overt.

It is important to note the story takes place in the early 1900's, Women were not allowed to vote.

My childhood favorite still stands tall

I loved this book when my mother read it to me as an 8 year old child so when I saw it was available on audible I just had to give it a listen. I still loved it! This book proves good writing stands the test of time!

A treasure!

I’d never heard of this little novel until I bought tickets for the play. I thought I’d listen to the free Audible listen and I’m SO glad I did.
It’s sweet, charming and the perfect listen for right now.

I absolutely loved this book!

What a sweet surprise this book was. I was truly surprised to find such wot and witticism in a novel written in 1912. It’s a quick listen and I highly recommend it.

Sweet Story of Providence

Told in the form of first person writing letters, this wonderful story gives you a window into a young girl growing from teenager to woman through the generosity of a benefactor. It is simply delightful !!

Letters

I enjoyed this book very much. I remember seeing the movie with the same title as a young girl and I liked it too. The book however is is better as usual. As I listen to it I realized how much we take for granted in life. Listening to the young lady express her excitement of being able to learn new things and to see things she never saw before helped me to be appreciative of what I have and the things I’ve learned.
