Publisher's Summary

"Narrator Grover Gardner...makes the experience of listening to this audiobook as delightful as can be." (AudioFile Magazine)

This Christmas, lawyer Andy Carpenter and his golden retriever, Tara, can't say no to helping young Danny and his dachshund, Murphy.

Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his wife, Laurie, have started a new Christmas tradition. Their local pet store has a Christmas tree, where instead of ornaments there are wishes from those in need. One poignant wish leads Andy to a child named Danny, whose selfless plea strikes a chord. Danny asked Santa for a coat for his mother, a sweater for his dachshund, Murphy, and for the safe return of his missing father.

It turns out Danny’s father doesn't want to be found, he’s on the run after just being arrested for a murder that took place 14 years ago - a murder that Danny’s mother swears he didn’t commit.

With his trademark humor and larger-than-life characters - including a police officer and his K-9 partner, Simon - Rosenfelt never fails to deliver as Andy and his eccentric crew dash to reunite a family in time for Christmas.

Critic Reviews

"Narrator Grover Gardner delivers an exciting performance as the character of Andy Carpenter, an eccentric lawyer who hates to work but gets roped by his wife into defending a man accused of a fourteen-year-old murder. With effective pacing and a sense of energy sometimes held back deliberately and at other times released with gusto, Gardner makes the experience of listening to this audiobook as delightful as can be. Listeners will hang on every word as Andy fights to free his client. He becomes especially endearing to listeners when he takes on an additional client, a police dog, an action that leads to Andy's salvation later in the audiobook." (AudioFile Magazine)

Tried to make it last.

As always I’m sad when I finish another Andy Carpenter book. I do my best to try and not binge listen to them but I have no self control. I enjoy everything about this series except waiting for the next one to come out. K Team? Oh I hope so!! Thanks to Grover Gardner. My top pick in favorite narrators.

One of my favorite series.

This series never gets old to me. A lot of the books are similar in the premises, but I still love them. Someone gets killed, someone else is arrested for that murder, and Andy Carpenter has his arm twisted to defend that person. What I enjoy about this book is the characters and the interaction there is. I will continue to buy these books as long as David Rosenfelt keeps writing them. The narrator is awesome and personifies Andy Carpenter’s character to a tee.

Fabulous & Fun

Another star performance in writing and narration. We see the beginning of a new series kind of starting here. Fantastic! I found this book extremely funny maybe more than usual. It was like an extra special pre-Christmas present.

FIVE BARKS!!!!!

Rosenfelt does it again, and what can I say about Grover — he IS Andy!
My wife and I saved it for a short trip returned home and stayed up for the last 2 and 1/2 hours to finish — we will sleep in tomorrow.

Set up for his new series

Wife, Marcus, and retired K-9 cop with dog, are forming a private detective business. Essentially this story is the leadup to a new series. Grover Gardner is fabulous, otherwise, plot is very week, but Andy's trademark humor is the only good thing about the book. I love this series, this book disappoints.

Yet another winner

David Rosenfelt continues the Andy Carpenter series with yet another winning novel that quickly captures one’s interest, then retains that interest throughout.
The rich characters effortlessly support the humor that is an integral part of the story.
I’m already anxiously waiting for the next great installment!

another winner

Another great read from David Rosenfelt. This one is about Andy and his gang helping a little boy and his dachshund find his father who has run afoul of the law. There is also a K-9 Team that Andy helps which is a lead in a new series. Great feel good story and very enjoyable

Another great doggy detective story with clever plot twists and always with humour, such a rarity in this genre.
